Our Distribution Centres play key roles within our Huws Gray Supply Chain Solutions business as they ensure that the materials required across our Partnering Stores network are delivered on time.
We rely on our Assistant Distribution Centre Managers to support the manager in the efficient and effective distribution of products to our customers and branches. The role is key to the contiuned growth of the Supply Chain Solutions business. Working in one of our Distribution Centres you’ll be part of a team where everyone is putting the effort in to offer brilliant customer service and to get the job done.
Here’s a quick overview of some of the things you can expect to do as a Assistant Distributuion Centre Manager with Huws Gray:
1. Develop and implement distribution strategies that align with the company's goals and objectives alongside the DC Manager. This includes determining the most efficient distribution channels, transportation methods, and warehouse locations.
2. Monitor and manage stock levels to ensure that products are readily available for distribution while avoiding overstocking or understocking issues
3. Oversee the transportation of goods, which may involve coordinating with carriers, negotiating transportation contracts
4. Optimise warehouse operations, including storage, regulations, and order fulfillment processes.
5. Ensure that safety and security requirements are followed at all times
6. Supervise a team of distribution staff, including warehouse operatives and drivers, providing guidance, training & performance evaluations
7. Maintain quality control measures to ensure that products are handled and shipped without damage or defects.

We're looking for someone who has had previous experience in a warehouse/distribution centre environment, perhaps as a team leader or supervisor. As well as this we'd also like you to demonstrate the following:
8. Comfortable supervising a team in a busy environment, providing leadership and development to the team.
9. Demonstrate that you have a broad knowledge of Health & Safety in the warehousing environment.
10. Experience of using IT systems to manage the day to day running of the distribution processes, including stock management, vehicle tracking, and order updates
11. An understanding on how the courier process works thus maximising margin benefits for the business.
12. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate with internal teams, external partners, and customers.
13. Creative initiative with strong problem-solving ability.
14. Ability to build strong relationships, both externally and internally.
15. Good presentation and communication skills.
16. Versatile and adaptable to a fast-paced environment.
17. PC Literacy Skills – Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

19. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to optimize distribution processes, reduce costs, and improve efficiency.
