About the role

You will be responsible for
* Management of Tesco's most strategically important fully automated distribution centres, alongside 2 further sites supplying the entirety of the networks clothing and tobacco ranges.
* Leading a large team of multi-skilled engineering technicians and support staff.
* Effective maintenance planning, monitoring workloads, ensuring the team have the right capacity, capability, and coverage to support effective site maintenance.
* Setting and maintaining the highest engineering standards and ensuring statutory compliance.
* Ensuring there is a safe environment for those who work and visit our distribution centre and offices.
* Building effective relationships and communicating clearly with stakeholders.
* Contribute to setting strategy and direction long term as part of wider automation engineering management team.
* Work with our vendors and contractors ensuring we cover all engineering and maintenance requirements both planned and compliance, to the highest of standards and within planned timescales to budget.
* Working closely with senior Automation peers to identify where investment is required, then plan and implement effectively.
* Proactively work to ensure continual development of professional engineering skills for myself and my team.
* Managing budgets effectively and to target, always being cost conscious.
You will need
* Automation and engineering experience at an operational management level.
* Demonstrated operational success in people leadership and development.
* Strong stakeholder management and budget control experience.
* Engineering degree or equivalent and extensive experience in leading large multi-skilled highly qualified engineering teams across a multi-disciplined campus of sites.
* Proactively contributed to strategic planning.
* Excellent leadership skills, ability to deliver through a diverse and remote team to the highest standards.
* Communication, stakeholder management and influencing skills.
* Building internal and external networks.
* Analysis and presentation of data to achieve timely decisions.
* Setting and maintaining of the highest standards.
* Commercial and business acumen.
* Computer literacy - EAM, Office 365.
* An awareness of Change Management and version control process.
* Problem solving and root cause analysis.
