York Minster Fund
Director
Salary: Up to £92,500pa pro rata. Full or part time working patterns will be considered.

The York Minster Fund has worked for nearly sixty years as the lead fundraising partner to York Minster, providing the cathedral with the financial support it requires for ongoing conservation and restoration, as well as the cathedral’s work in music, learning and education. In recent years, the York Minster Fund has played a critical role in the delivery of the Minster’s Centre of Excellence for heritage skills, the restoration of large portions of the Minster’s medieval windows and, looking ahead, will be a key partner in the ambitious sustainability agenda for the Minster and wider precinct. With the retirement of our current Director after nine years in post, an opportunity now arises to continue this critical work.
As Director of the York Minster Fund, you will be responsible for the effective management of the organisation, its administration, its people and its relationships. You will oversee the strategic development and governance of the Fund, working in close partnership with the Board of Trustees, Chapter and Dean of York, and the staff teams to ensure that the Fund continues to successfully contribute to the sustainability of York Minster.
You will be an experienced leader comfortable operating in complex environments, with a track record of leading and supporting boards in the development and delivery of strategy. Your exceptional interpersonal skills will enable you to build impactful relations with stakeholders at all levels and be the cornerstone of a collaborative, empowering style. You will bring experience of driving change and transformation in organisations, ensuring that they adapt and develop to deliver sustainable success. We are genuinely open minded as to your background as we seek a broad set of skills for this unique role but, wherever you come from, you will bring vision, innovation and the ability to drive change in a way that respects the traditions and values of York Minster. You will be a proven leader with demonstrable financial and commercial acumen, outstanding relationship building skills across diverse stakeholders and able to provide assurance and effect change at board level.
This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to the ongoing development of a 1,400 year old institution and one of the most significant cultural, spiritual and heritage sites in the North of England.
We want our commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion for all to be reflected in the composition of our staff. We are particularly keen to receive applications from candidates from communities currently underrepresented at senior levels in the cathedral.
