Reporting to: Senior Care Assistant/Manager
Overview
We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Care Assistants to join our team at Rozelle Nursing Home. As a Care Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting our residents to live with dignity and respect while meeting their individual needs. This role complies with Care Inspectorate Wales (CIW) regulations, and registration with Social Care Wales is mandatory.
Key Responsibilities
* Personal Care: Assist residents with daily living activities such as bathing, dressing, and grooming. Support mobility and promote independence whenever possible.
* Health Monitoring: Observe and report any changes in residents’ health or behavior to senior staff. Administer medication following appropriate training and guidelines (if required).
* Support and Engagement: Provide emotional support and companionship to residents. Assist with activities, meals, and social events to encourage resident well-being.
* Documentation and Communication: Maintain accurate and up-to-date care records in line with CIW standards. Liaise with residents' families and health professionals to ensure coordinated care.
* Safeguarding and Compliance: Follow all safeguarding policies to protect residents from harm or abuse. Ensure care practices comply with CIW and Social Care Wales codes of practice.
* Professional Development: Complete mandatory training and maintain continuous professional development (CPD). Support and mentor new staff or trainees when required.
Requirements
* Qualifications and Registration: Must be registered with Social Care Wales (or commit to registering within the required timeframe). QCF Level 2/3 in Health and Social Care (or willingness to work towards this qualification).
* Experience: Previous experience in a care setting is desirable but not essential; training will be provided.
* Skills and Competencies: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work as part of a team and adapt to changing needs. Compassionate and patient with a strong understanding of confidentiality.
