Job Title: Data Architect
Location: Barrow-in-Furness. We offer a range of hybrid and flexible working arrangements – please speak to your recruiter about the options for this particular role.
Salary: Circa £60,000
What you’ll be doing:
1. Manage the deployment of the company’s data strategy in collaboration with senior data professionals.
2. Follow established data architecture guidelines, helping to enforce standards and best practices for naming conventions, data modelling, and documentation.
3. Provide support to the data stewardship program, helping data stewards in different business functions manage the quality and integrity of their data.
4. Ensure that data management practices comply with industry regulations (e.g., GDPR, ISO 27001), assisting with the monitoring and management of data-related risks.
5. Work with cybersecurity teams to ensure that data handling complies with relevant data protection regulations (e.g., GDPR, CCPA).
6. Lead in implementing process mining strategies that align with the company’s operational goals. Help gather and analyse data to uncover inefficiencies and optimize processes.
7. Collaborate with business functions and process owners to analyse business processes, identifying areas for improvement using process mining techniques.
Your skills and experiences:
Essential:
1. In-depth knowledge of data architecture, governance, quality management, and process mining techniques and tools.
2. Good knowledge of delivery functions Engineering, Supply Chain & Operations.
3. Extensive knowledge of Data & Analytics (tools, techniques, practices).
Desirable:
1. Relevant certificates such as TOGAF are highly desirable.
2. Strong understanding of the Defence / Nuclear / heavy engineering sector, including its unique data challenges and regulatory environment.

The Data Management team:
The Data Management Team is leading the deployment of BAE’s data strategy. They work to ensure that data is robust and trusted throughout the data value chain. This team is responsible for Data Governance, Data Architecture and Data Quality. By joining the team, you will play a key role in the delivery of submarines and leading innovative projects that are the first of their kind in the industry, particularly within the defence sector. We offer relocation support packages across all Submarines roles, subject to meeting eligibility criteria.
