Protocol Education is seeking a dedicated and passionate Learning Support Assistant (LSA) to join a vibrant and inclusive primary school in Colchester. This is a full-time, long-term opportunity to make a positive impact by working 1:1 with a child with Special Educational Needs (SEN).
About the Role:
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will be providing tailored support for a child with SEN to help them achieve their full potential within the classroom. This role will involve working closely with the child on a 1:1 basis, assisting with learning activities, promoting positive behavior, and ensuring the child feels supported in both academic and social development. You will collaborate with teachers and SENCOs to implement individual education plans (IEPs) and offer hands-on assistance where required.
Key Responsibilities:
* Provide 1:1 support for a child with Special Educational Needs.
* Assist with learning activities, adapting materials and teaching methods to meet the child’s needs.
* Foster a supportive, encouraging, and inclusive environment.
* Help manage classroom behavior in line with the school's behavior policy.
* Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to monitor progress and adapt learning strategies.
* Promote the child’s emotional and social development, ensuring a positive school experience.
Requirements:
* Previous experience working with children, particularly those with SEN (desired but not essential).
* A patient, empathetic, and nurturing approach.
* Strong communication skills and the ability to build rapport with children, staff, and parents.
* Willingness to collaborate and take guidance from teachers and SENCOs.
* A commitment to supporting children’s development and well-being.
