Job Description Overview As a SEN (Special Educational Needs) Teaching Assistant, you will play a key role in supporting students with Autism, ADHD and other special needs in an inclusive and diverse educational environment. Your focus will be on providing assistance to the class teacher and working closely with students to help them achieve their full potential. All roles will be Monday to Friday, 8:30 to 3:30 Responsibilities Work closely with the class teacher to plan and deliver inclusive lessons that cater to the diverse needs of students with Autism, ADHD, and other special needs. Provide one-to-one support to students, helping them to stay engaged and focused in the classroom. Assist with the implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and Behavior Support Plans (BSPs) for students with special needs. Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment where every student feels valued and respected. Qualifications Previous experience working with students with Autism, ADHD, and other special needs is highly desirable. A strong understanding of inclusive teaching practices and strategies for supporting diverse learning needs. Patience, empathy, and the ability to build rapport with students in order to provide the support they require. Relevant qualifications/certifications in special education or teaching assistance would be advantageous. Day-to-day Collaborating with the class teacher to modify and adapt teaching materials to meet the individual needs of students. Providing support and guidance to students during in-class activities and independent work. Assisting with behavior management and de-escalation techniques when necessary. Working alongside the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other staff members to ensure a cohesive approach to supporting students with special needs in the school.
