We currently have an exciting role for a Warehouse Shift Manager providing an excellent opportunity to join the Moran Logistics team at our Leeds site. The role is days on a 4 on, 4 off shift pattern. Working 06:00-18:00.
About the Role:
The job holder will be responsible for managing the warehouse shift (people, operations and other resources) to ensure the smooth and efficient running of the shift and all warehouse activities. The job holder will utilise resources to their full potential to ensure that deliveries leave in a timely manner, and in full, to meet customer deadlines. You will oversee all core elements of the warehouse including picking, goods-in, despatch, stock rotation, hygiene, first line disciplinary and people issues and health and safety.
What we are looking for:
Operations Management:
1. To take responsibility for the shift and managing the warehouse operation whilst being an active hands-on member of the team.
2. To plan and organise the warehouse people resources to meet the volume of Dispatch, Picking and Goods-In requirements on a daily basis.
3. Responsible for meeting KPIs regarding cost, dock waste, delivery and turnaround times.
4. To liaise effectively with the Transport Operations Team to ensure all vehicles leave on time.
5. To understand Moran Logistics values and lead by example, delivering and communicating site strategy.
6. To ensure all administrative tasks for the warehouse operation are completed where appropriate.
Health & Safety:
1. To ensure you follow safe working practices.
2. To promptly report all accidents and incidents to your line manager.
3. To assist in accident investigations as necessary.
4. To ensure that housekeeping standards are maintained.
5. To adhere to relevant site rules, QEHS policies and procedures including quality procedures, HACCP, safe systems of work and environmental controls.
Hygiene:
1. Responsible for maintaining a high standard of hygiene in accordance with company procedures.
People Management:
1. To provide advice and guidance on issues to members of the warehouse team.
2. To be responsible for the operating procedures and discipline within the warehouse and ensure shift employees are fully trained and competent to follow these procedures.
3. To train shift employees to meet the required procedures and performance standards and ensure the training is correctly documented.
4. To be responsible for all first line people issues and discipline including completing all investigations.
5. To monitor people performance to ensure shift performance targets are being met. To support and manage performance targets and standards in a fair and consistent manner.
6. To manage the company absence procedure within the warehouse, including recording all absence, ensuring the completion of all relevant paperwork and that return to work interviews are carried out.
7. To liaise with HR department as necessary regarding people issues and training needs.
8. To ensure that the time and attendance system is completed accurately on a daily basis and report on anomalies.
9. To ensure that set break times are adhered to by shift staff.
10. To authorise and record annual leave to ensure that the holiday policy and procedure are adhered to correctly and that all paperwork is signed off in a timely manner.
11. To motivate your team to achieve the highest levels of productivity.
Communication:
1. To ensure that a shift team brief is carried out at the start of each operating shift on a daily basis.
2. To participate in shift hand over meetings with other Shift Managers to ensure the effective communication of company information.
3. To participate regularly in site and operational meetings with management and customers.
4. To communicate regularly with customers in a clear and professional manner.
5. To communicate to your line manager issues that could impact the business.
Flexibility and Ad-Hoc:
1. To be flexible to cover sickness and holidays including line managers and other colleagues as necessary.
2. A hands on approach is required from Warehouse Shift Managers. They must be available for colleagues and be present with in the warehouse function to support their colleagues and the operation.
3. To attend meetings as appropriate.
4. To carry out any other task that is reasonable and within your skill set as business needs dictate.
