Principal Flight Systems Engineer
Salary: up to £54,700 per annum dependent upon experience
Location: Prestwick
We currently have a vacancy to join one of the world’s leading, global defence, security and aerospace companies as a Principal Flight Systems Engineer. The role will be based in Prestwick but offers the opportunity for hybrid working (usually 2-3 days per week on site) and flexible working hours. There will be the need to travel to other UK sites once or twice per month - all travel/accommodation to these will be paid.
As a Principal Flight Systems Engineer, you will be instrumental in designing, developing, and supporting a variety of critical aircraft systems, including landing gear, fuel, electrical power generation, crew escape, environmental control, flying controls, and propulsion integration. You will experience the full engineering lifecycle, from concept and requirements definition to design, development, and in-service support, ensuring the highest standards of airworthiness.
Main Responsibilities:
1. Production/review of Flight Systems engineering data to meet project requirements in line with agreed standards and procedures, whilst maintaining quality, cost and schedule adherence.
2. Liaising with other engineering and project areas in a collaborative environment to develop engineering solutions.
3. Planning, performing and guiding engineering tasks dependent on lifecycle phase which could include requirements development, system and equipment design and development, modelling and analysis, system integration, qualification and certification, and testing.
4. Producing and/or reviewing specifications, reports and proposals, ensuring technical accuracy and task requirements have been achieved.
5. Development of new systems through implementation of best practice systems lifecycle processes.
6. Working with customers to support delivered systems and resolve issues.
7. Providing guidance and coaching to other team members.

About You:
1. Degree or equivalent experience or qualification in relevant STEM subject (Aeronautical, Mechanical or Electrical Engineering/Physics/Maths/Science).
2. Demonstrable knowledge of the system engineering lifecycle with ability to apply good systems engineering practices to your work.
3. Extensive experience in Mechanical, Electrical or Fluid Systems Engineering, preferably in an aerospace application.
4. Ability to apply previous learning and experience to offer guidance, support and leadership to others.
5. Ability to effectively research system design data and apply to complex problems.
You must be eligible to apply for SC clearance and, therefore, must hold a British passport and have lived and worked in the UK for the past 5 years.
