About The Role
Duties and responsibilities required for the day to day running of the golf operation, reporting to the Golf Operations Manager and working as a core member of the Golf Operations team.
Under the direction of the Golf Operations Manager, oversee the daily golf business, welcome and check in members, guests and visitors, organise and deliver coaching for individuals and groups, assist in organising and running competitions, perform club repairs and custom fitting.
Responsibilities
1. To carry out opening and closing procedures following standard operating procedures.
2. To process payments in line with Resort procedures.
3. To assist in organising competitions and other events, to help make them a success.
4. To organise and control play ensuring that customers receive the best service and enjoyment during their day.
5. To perform basic club repairs and custom fitting to the standard required to generate maximum customer satisfaction.
6. To organise and control the practice facilities ensuring enjoyable customer experience.
7. To organise and control the hire of all relevant equipment rentals.
8. To oversee the driving range operation daily, ensuring the driving range is operating safely and ball supply is adequate.
9. To supervise the daily operation of the golf shop under the direction of the Golf Operations Manager.
10. To offer specialist advice and recommendations using product knowledge to meet customer requirements.
11. To achieve sales targets.
12. To provide excellent customer service at all times.
13. To ensure that the golf shop is clean, orderly, well-stocked and professionally presented at all times.
14. To monitor and regularly update sales display areas, including window displays and merchandise in hot spots.
15. To assist in organising promotions to stimulate golf shop sales.
16. To assist with stock control and ordering, pricing and bar-coding.
17. To follow all established shop procedures, including those for payment processing, handling, customer complaints, opening and closing, health and safety, security, etc.
18. To act as onsite supervisor when the Golf Operations Manager is not on duty.
19. To allocate duties for golf operations staff when acting as shift supervisor.
20. To promote positive customer relations, supporting other staff as needed.
21. Under the guidance of the Golf Operations Manager, provide orientation and induction training for new staff.
22. To establish and maintain effective working relationships with other staff and members.
23. To promote all golf club activities and services, acting as an ambassador for the facility.
24. To organise and deliver effective coaching for individuals and groups, ensuring that participants’ needs are identified, coaching sessions are planned and delivered to develop participants’ performance and the effectiveness of sessions is evaluated and reviewed.
25. To assist with organising and promoting junior golf.
26. To deliver women into golf development programmes.
27. To work on own initiative to build up client base for coaching.
Minimum Requirements
1. PGA Professional or PGA Trainee studying Foundation Degree in Professional Golf.
2. A good sales and customer service background with the ability to demonstrate skills in both.
3. The desire to deliver outstanding customer service.
4. Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
5. A warm, friendly, and energetic approach with great pride in your overall appearance.
6. A flexible work approach.
7. Understand the requirement for working early morning, evening and weekend hours.
8. Previous experience working in the golf industry.
9. Good knowledge of the game of golf and the golf industry.
10. Knowledge of Rules of Golf and tournament organisation.
11. Good working knowledge of custom fitting and club repairs.
12. Retail experience, including selling, stock control and visual merchandising.
13. Confident IT skills including Microsoft Office, BRS Golf and ClubV1.
Personal Appearance
Your personal appearance makes an important contribution to the high standing and reputation of the Company. You are required to meet the Company’s personal appearance standards by wearing either approved clothing or the uniform provided by the Company.
PGA Training
The Company will provide the Assistant PGA Professional with funding of £500.00 per year during the Assistant’s PGA training course, payable at the end of each academic year. Should the Assistant leave the Company during or after completion of the training course (up to three years after) then funding must be repaid.
