We’re seeking someone to join our team as a Data & Analytics Engineer. The team manages the accuracy & timeliness of our data enables our businesses, helps us to make informed decisions and protects us from risk. Firmwide data office (FDO) is a group within the Cyber, Data Risk and Resiliency Division that focuses on Data as a key priority of Morgan Stanley’s overall Strategy. FDO develops tooling & solutions for Data Flows, Risk Reduction, Architecture and Visualisation.
In the Technology division, we leverage innovation to build the connections and capabilities that power our Firm, enabling our clients and colleagues to redefine markets and shape the future of our communities. This is a Principal Engineer position at VP level, which is part of the job family responsible for providing specialist data analysis and expertise that drive decision-making and business insights as well as crafting data pipelines, implementing data models, and optimizing data processes for improved data accuracy and accessibility, including applying machine learning and AI-based techniques.
What you'll do in the role:
* Oversee multiple data engineering teams and projects across different domains.
* Develop and implement data strategies that support the organization's long-term vision.
* Drive cross-functional collaboration and knowledge sharing within the data engineering function.
* Evaluate industry trends and emerging technologies to keep the organization competitive.
* Represent the data engineering function in leadership meetings and strategic discussions.
* Manage relationships with external partners, vendors, and other key stakeholders.
* Create a culture of accountability, excellence, and continuous improvement within the teams.
* Mentor and develop senior leaders within the data engineering organization.
* Drive Firmwide Global cross divisional deliveries to support ISG, Operations, IM, WM, FRM, Finance and Tech divisions to adhere to the relevant firm data policies and procedures.
* Work with Technology and DDOs to gather and deliver requirements that require integration across the hourglass to the squads within the DG&C Fleet.
* Work with Technology and DDOs on MS Map and FDC integration to deliver the use cases for Change Impact Explorer, Data Hygiene, Data Lineage and FDC Data Insight as part of the FDC Semantics Squad.
What you'll bring to the role:
* Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
* Extensive experience in building and scaling data platforms and solutions.
* Strategic mindset to drive innovation and continuous improvement in data engineering practices.
* Proficient in data architecture design and implementation for complex business needs.
* Leadership skills to manage multiple teams, projects, and stakeholders.
* Ability to collaborate with cross functional teams and stakeholders to drive data driven solutions.
* Proven track record of delivering high-impact data projects on time and within budget.
* Understand the Firmwide Data Office (FDO) strategy provided by the Fleet leadership.
* Work in a team environment, build and maintain a network of contacts, and coordinate with a large number of stakeholders across the business and technology.
* Gain knowledge and understanding from key stakeholders across the different Divisions and act as a bridge between several business areas.
* Influence stakeholders to prioritise solutions aligned to the FDO strategy that are as comprehensive and streamlined as possible that include all requirements.
* Deal with ambiguity and define approaches to bring un-focused issues to resolution.
* Ensure that the right solution is delivered by the squads by creating the appropriate user stories with acceptance criteria and refining them with users and developers.
* Ensure that the linkage across the hourglass is understood by the relevant squads and stakeholders and dependencies are easily identified.
* Contribute to the BA Chapter standards and best practices.
* Coach other BAs and lead by example.
* Good communicator with strong work ethic, team player, self-starter.
* Educate senior management stakeholders on agenda and objectives.
* Interact at all levels to drive successful outcomes in line with business and operational management globally.
* Be accountable and act as an owner, good judgment and decision making.
