Job Description for Mechanical Team Leader:

The Mechanical Team Leader will report to the Maintenance Delivery Manager, providing assurance that all Mechanical activities are undertaken in a safe and compliant manner, meeting all requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence and all Regulatory and Legislative purposes. The ideal candidate will be experienced in working in a regulatory capacity; detail-oriented and able to work to stringent deadlines.
Main Responsibilities for Mechanical Team Leader:
* Distributing team workload and organizing the team in response to unplanned events.
* Analyzing resource requirements for emerging work and providing forecasts of manning levels.
* Ensuring that instructions, materials, tools, and equipment required by the team are available.
* Issuing and communicating safety documentation/information to the team.
* Producing and communicating development plans for all team members and ensuring delivery.
* Accountable to the Maintenance Delivery Manager for ensuring all maintenance tasks are clearly briefed, understood, and performed safely and on schedule.
* Complying with legislative, regulatory, and company procedures and standards appropriate to the role.
* Ensuring the delivery of work complies with all site requirements.
* Ensuring effective handover and hand back arrangements with the Technical Support Team.
* Liaising with Mechanical Engineers on plant upgrades or improvements.
* Ensuring team and individual training takes place to agreed standards and timescales.
* Attending forums to keep abreast of best practices and sharing learnings.
* Undertaking regular self-audits and task observations to ensure EHSS&Q standards are maintained.
Essential Criteria for Mechanical Team Leader:
* Mechanical Craft Apprenticeship.
* A thorough awareness of nuclear and conventional safety and security requirements.
* Demonstrated supervisory experience for operations within a nuclear plant.
* Strong communication skills to convey key information to customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
* Ability to demonstrate conservative decision-making in pressure situations.
* Demonstrable knowledge of operational and maintenance requirements.
* Evidence of self-motivation with demonstrable levels of drive, energy, and resilience.
* Requirement to become appointed as Task Supervisor.
* Requirement to become appointed as Sub Contractor Supervisor.
* Ability to obtain DV level security clearance.
Desirable Criteria for Mechanical Team Leader:
* Hold IOSH Managing Safely or equivalent as a minimum qualification.
* Good general safety case awareness with knowledge of nuclear safety mechanisms.
* Ability to interface on a technical level with Engineers.
