Join the Charnwood Borough Council team as a Planning/Senior Planning Officer.
What We’re Looking For:
We are seeking to appoint two experienced planning professionals who are dynamic, motivated, and highly organised to handle a busy caseload of planning applications and be able to meet Government set targets for their determination.
You will have recent experience in a development management setting with experience of handling a varied caseload and writing quality reports.
You will need to be a team player and be an excellent communicator with good negotiating skills.
In addition, you will need to be proactive and solution-focused and able to understand and interpret plans and policies with willingness to contribute to the delivery of excellent customer service.
Role overview:
Working in a team of development management specialists, you will help deliver an effective and efficient planning service through the determination of a varied caseload of planning applications ranging from householders to major development proposals (depending on your level of experience).
The role will provide you with experience of working with a variety of teams across Council departments and with elected representatives as well as external partners and stakeholders.
This is a career graded post and will enable the post holder to gain experience and career progression. At the top of the scale the post holder will manage more complicated planning applications and supervise their own graduate Planning Assistant.

Progression beyond SO2 to PO1 is subject to the Special Factors as listed in the Job Description being met and evidenced.
This is an opportunity to use your skills and talent to make a significant and immediate contribution to improving the quality of places in Charnwood and the lives of residents in our communities.
