ASEL is seeking a highly organised and proactive Logistics and Procurement Manager to oversee the efficient management of our warehouse operations, shipping and procurement processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for stock management, deliveries and returns, international shipping, and cost control. This role requires an individual with strong leadership, excellent problem-solving skills, and a commitment to ensuring that our logistics provision operates smoothly while meeting business objectives.
Main Duties & Key Responsibilities
Stock Management
* Oversee stockholders to ensure accurate stock levels are maintained at all times.
* Implement robust stock control measures, including on and offsite inventory checks, reconciliation, and reducing stock discrepancies.
* Optimise warehouse storage systems and layout for improved efficiency.
Deliveries and Returns
* Manage the receiving, inspection, and processing of deliveries to ensure accuracy and quality.
* Coordinate and track returns to suppliers or customers, ensuring timely resolution and compliance with company policies.
* Coordinate and track product warranty protocols and exchanges.
International Shipping
* Plan and manage international shipments, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and minimising delays.
* Work with shipping partners to ensure efficient and cost-effective transportation solutions.
* Maintain accurate records for all international shipping activities.
Procurement Oversight
* Work closely with the procurement team to forecast and manage stock requirements.
* Monitor supplier performance, ensuring timely deliveries and high-quality goods.
* Negotiate supplier agreements to achieve cost savings and maintain strong supplier relationships.
Waste Regulations
* Develop, support and maintain the effective application of waste management protocols including but not limited to:
* Permits and Licensing: Where certain waste management activities require permits and licenses issued by the Environment Agency.
* Record Keeping and Reporting: Ensure proper record keeping for accountability and compliance in waste management.
* Waste Hierarchy: Development of a Waste Framework Directive which prioritises waste prevention, reuse, recycling, and energy recovery, with disposal as a last resort.
Cost Control
* Identify opportunities to optimise warehouse and procurement costs without compromising on quality or service.
* Analyse and report on cost performance metrics, ensuring budget adherence and cost efficiency.
* Implement strategies to reduce waste and improve warehouse operational productivity.
Warehouse Operations
* Ensure the warehouse operates in compliance with health and safety regulations.
* Lead, motivate, and manage the warehouse team, ensuring clear communication and high performance.
* Develop and implement procedures to ensure the smooth running of all warehouse operations.
Process Improvement
* Continuously assess warehouse and procurement processes, identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices.
* Leverage technology to improve inventory management and warehouse efficiency.
Reporting and Documentation
* Maintain accurate records of stock levels, deliveries, returns, and shipping activities.
* Provide regular reports to senior management on key warehouse and procurement metrics.
* Ensure compliance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
Facilities Appointed Person
* Appointed to have oversight of the building facilities and health and safety.
* Report all discrepancies to the relative central departments (H&S, Compliance, Facilities).
Knowledge, Skills And Experience
Essential: Proven experience in warehouse management, procurement, or a similar role, strong knowledge of stock control and inventory management processes, familiarity with international shipping regulations and processes, excellent organisational and problem-solving skills, strong leadership and team management abilities, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and warehouse management systems, strong communication and negotiation skills.
Desirable: Relevant qualifications in supply chain management, logistics, or procurement, knowledge of waste management regulations, experience in cost control and budget management, knowledge of health and safety standards in warehouse operations, experience working in an international or multi-site warehouse environment.
