Overview: We are seeking a motivated and proactive DevOps Apprentice to join our team, supporting the REIS Operations and Development teams. This role will focus on improving efficiencies through DevOps practices, automating operational tasks and maintaining system performance and reliability. It’s an excellent opportunity for someone eager to develop expertise in modern DevOps workflows, system administration and cutting-edge technologies, with a strong focus on Azure cloud solutions and services. Responsibilities: Infrastructure Modernisation: Assist in transitioning to a Linux-based infrastructure Learn and implement Infrastructure as Code (IaC) practices with tools. DevOps & CI/CD Pipelines: Help design, build, and maintain CI/CD pipelines to enable efficient and reliable software delivery. System Administration: Work with the Ops team to manage and maintain Windows and Linux-based systems, ensuring reliability, security, and performance. Handle containerised workloads and support orchestration platforms. Monitoring & Performance Optimisation: Implement monitoring tools to track system performance and proactively address issues. Analyse performance metrics to recommend and execute system improvements. Collaboration & Compliance: Work closely with operations and development teams to align with compliance standards and promote best practices and the use of open-source technologies. What we are looking for: Strong interest in both Windows and Linux-based systems. Willingness to learn new technologies, including GitHub, Kubernetes, Docker, C# and open-source monitoring tools. Enthusiastic, with a “can do, never give up” attitude. Logical problem-solving skills with a desire to self-develop and succeed. Professionalism, honesty, and a team-oriented mindset. Entry requirements: A Level in STEM subject, or BTEC Diploma in STEM subject, or Level 3 IT apprenticeship Salary: £18,000 - £20,000 per annum. Working week: 40 hours a week.
