Purpose of the Role (Overview):
We are seeking a motivated and skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join a dynamic and innovative team. This role involves the design, development, implementation, and optimisation of manufacturing processes for, avionics, logic control units, and related technologies.
As a key contributor, you will apply your technical expertise to enhance design and production efficiency while ensuring high-quality output. The position requires close collaboration with cross-functional teams, including design, quality, and production, to align goals and improve overall operational performance.
Key Responsibilities:
Manufacturing Support
* Provide real-time technical support to resolve production issues, including equipment failures, quality concerns, and process inefficiencies.
* Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions to reduce downtime and improve process reliability.
* Work closely with cross-functional teams (e.g., Quality Control, Production, Maintenance) to address and resolve production challenges.
* Identify and implement process improvements, cost reduction strategies, and continuous improvement initiatives.
* Specify, design, and introduce tools, jigs, fixtures, and other aids to enhance manufacturing efficiency.
* Maintain and update production documentation, including job routings and work instructions.
* Monitor production data to evaluate performance, identify trends, and drive improvement initiatives.
New Product Development
* Support Design for Manufacture (DFM) activities for both new and legacy products.
* Oversee the transition of new products from development to production.
* Address risks related to component obsolescence and reliability.
Test & Validation
* Assist in RF testing, validation, and performance verification of antenna designs and components.
* Collaborate with test and production teams to resolve discrepancies and failure modes.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
* Degree-qualified in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Electrical Engineering, or a related technical discipline, with experience in electronic and RF components.
* Experience in a manufacturing or production engineering role, ideally with exposure to RF, electronics, antennas, or similar technologies.
* Solid understanding of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and quality systems.
* Proven ability to identify and implement productivity and process improvements.
* Strong problem-solving skills, including experience with root cause analysis techniques.
* Familiarity with lean manufacturing and Six Sigma principles is advantageous.
* Knowledge of industry quality standards, such as EN9100, is beneficial.
* Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work effectively across multiple departments.
* Strong commitment to health and safety best practices in the workplace.
