What's involved with this role: Role: Media Officer Job Ref: QAD 2494/18112 Pay Rate: Competitive Market Rate Hours per week: 37 hours per week Contract Length: Anticipated 6 months Location: Bristol, Swansea or Nottingham – 60% in the office per month We are seeking a Press & Media Officer for a 6-month hybrid contract based in Bristol or Swansea. The role involves drafting proactive and reactive social media messages for various external channels and creating high-quality, publishable content such as press releases and blogs that adhere to Government Digital Service (GDS) accessibility and usability standards. Candidates should have proven experience in copywriting and content production, focusing on social media, blogs, and websites, as well as a strong background in press office operations. Key responsibilities: Draft proactive and reactive social media messages for a range of external channels. Create quality publishable content such as press releases and blogs, making sure that content meets accessibility and usability standards in accordance with Government Digital Service (GDS) guidance. Support the wider media team with press enquiries. Develop and nurture excellent relationships with internal colleagues, stakeholders and external contacts in the media. Contribute to the delivery of external communications campaigns and plans. Maintain an awareness of the news agenda and emerging news events.
