The Clinical Studies Officer role is a role that enables unregistered or non-clinical staff to deliver clinical research. You will be supported by an experienced research nurse and work with both the research delivery team and the academic team within the Research and Development department.
The post holder will be funded to deliver two longitudinal observational cohort studies SPOTLight and BREATHE which recruit patients with pleural disease and airways disease respectively.
The Academic Respiratory Unit is based in the Learning & Research building at Southmead Hospital and spans across both North Bristol NHS Trust and the University of Bristol. We design, lead and deliver research into a wide range of respiratory conditions, with a particular focus on clinical studies and trials. Our unit has particular interests in pleural disease, airways diseases such as asthma and COPD, and interstitial lung disease.
Our Unit’s objective is to play a positive role in advancing the understanding and treatment of lung disease for people everywhere.
The Respiratory Research Unit is based in the Clinical Research Centre at Southmead Hospital and delivers research in pleural disease, airways diseases such as asthma and COPD, and interstitial lung disease.
The post will entail assessing patients’ suitability, ensuring informed consent is obtained, coordinating the logistics for patient visits, collecting and processing samples of blood and pleural fluid and undertaking patient assessments in accordance with the study protocol.
