About the Role
In this role, you will conduct a literature review on cross-talk noise in quantum computers, focusing on its security implications and how cross-talk noise affects performance. Your research will examine various hardware architectures and assess their resilience to cross-talk noise. You will compile your findings into a comprehensive report while developing increasing independence in your work, with guidance from senior academics as needed.
Your Responsibilities
* Contributing significantly to the team’s research on cross-talk noise in quantum computing while developing your research expertise with increasing autonomy.
* Conducting internationally competitive research under the guidance of senior academic staff, leading to publications in high-impact journals.
* Contributing to and publishing academic papers and other scholarly outputs to a high standard, in line with the University of Melbourne’s research expectations.
* Actively participating in research seminars and conferences to present and discuss research findings as opportunities arise.
Who We Are Looking For
You will be passionate about quantum computing and eager to explore the security implications of cross-talk noise. With a keen interest in cutting-edge research, you will work autonomously to analyse hardware performance while collaborating effectively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Completion (or near completion) of a PhD in Quantum Computing.
* Demonstrated experience in Quantum Computing.
* A demonstrated aptitude for research, with a sound publication record in Quantum Computing, commensurate with experience and opportunities.
* Demonstrated ability to prepare research reports and manuscripts for publication.
* Strong evidence of ability and desire to build an academic research career trajectory.
Additional Information
This role requires that the successful candidate must undergo and maintain an up-to-date Working with Children Check. This is essential to guarantee a secure environment for all individuals at the University. In the case the selected candidate doesn't have a valid Working with Children Check, they will be able to apply for the WWCC as part of the initial onboarding procedures.
