He’s passionate about Minecraft, Pokémon, Lego, computers, and electronics. He enjoys stories, particularly fantasy adventures and is proud of learning to play the clarinet. Matt also enjoys getting outdoors for walks with his dog. Matt is autistic, has ADHD and anxiety with demand avoidance. He’s made wonderful progress recently — including becoming fully toilet trained! Matt is fully verbal and doesn’t have a learning disability. He is educated at home with tutors visiting throughout the week. His younger sister, Grace (8) is a bright, creative, and energetic girl with a love of animals, books, art, and baking. She has a wonderful imagination and a great sense of fun. She is autistic, has ADHD, anxiety, and selective mutism. Grace attends a local school with the support of a full-time 1:1 teaching assistant. When Grace is feeling anxious, she may stop speaking and instead choose to write things down or communicate in other ways, like making animal sounds. It’s important never to pressure her to speak; with patience and support, she will find her voice again in her own time. Overview of role: The SEN Nanny/Manny will primarily be supporting Matt, with the opportunity to also spend time with Grace before and after school. Matt follows a rotating carousel of daily tasks and will benefit enormously from a supportive person to help him work through these, as well as providing assistance during his home-based lessons and the time between sessions. For example, joining him out in the community to help build his confidence and develop independence skills. While Matt is engaged with his tutors, the SEN Nanny/Manny may be required to assist for short periods, but you will have plenty of time for child-related tasks such as food prep, laundry and general tidying. Mornings can be an anxious time for Grace, so she benefits from calm, gentle reassurance to help ease her into the day. During the school holidays, the SEN Nanny/Manny will have sole charge of both children at home, with an additional adult joining them on day trips to provide dedicated 1:1 support for one of the children. The hourly rate being offered is £17.00 to £19.00 Gross Per Hour depending on experience. Who this job would suit: We are looking for an SEN Nanny/Manny with hands-on experience supporting children with Autism and ADHD. A gentle, calm, and kind demeanor is essential, as both Matt and Grace respond well to a patient and understanding approach. The ideal candidate will be someone who can create a nurturing environment, gently motivating and celebrating Matt’s progress while supporting his daily routines and independence. What’s great about this job: This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking for part-time hours in a role that’s both impactful and varied - no two days are the same! You'll be supporting educational activities, spending time outdoors, encouraging life skills, and having fun with both children. The family can offer training in PDA techniques and therapeutic parenting. Who is recruiting for this role?
