Job Description System Design Integrator Full Time Derby/Hybrid (3 days a week on site) What you will be doing You will be a member of the Time on Wing Improvement Team to develop analysis methods and tools for Large Civil Engines. You’ll ensure consistency and assumptions for analysis, undertake analysis and identify improvement opportunities to improve financial and operational planning accuracy whilst helping to prevent contracting of unwanted/unprofitable business for Rolls-Royce. You’ll be able to select and apply appropriate investigation techniques, communicating rationale and results. Product knowledge of hot end components that are off-wing drivers such as the HP turbine blades is beneficial, as is knowledge of systemic off-wing drivers such as TGT margin and high oil consumption. You’ll be working in a cross project team, working extremely closely with Turbines and Engineering for Services, with opportunities to influence stakeholders and strategy of these teams. Responsibilities You’ll be supporting the team by: Planning the collection of data which can be in multiple formats and have multiple sources of origin. You’ll be able to assimilate data in a form that enables decision making. You’ll be proficient in the need for validation and pre-processing of data, and be able to account and advise on possible sources of bias and uncertainty in the collected data. Being able to interpret real-world engine data, and tools that allow the storage and query of large amounts of data (e.g. SQL) and be capable of supporting efforts in version controlling and restricting the access to certain types of data. Operating the tools required to analyse products. You will be capable of applying appropriate process automation methods to optimise design activities. This will include building pre- and post-processing scripts to interact with tools such as HELA. Experience with automating workflows, moving data between software packages using an application layer interface (API), or scripting analysis would be beneficial. Conducting product investigations to determine the root cause of a problem. You will have an ability to apply logical, analytical and innovative thinking on a range of technical problems, including the application of Systems Thinking and Systems Engineering to make balanced decisions across technical and business parameters. Communicating technical ideas, principles and solutions to stakeholders up, down and outside the business using a range of techniques (spoken, non-spoken, written). Why Rolls-Royce?
