Mental Health Support Team (MHST) Band 6 Senior Mental Health Support Team Practitioner
Do you have a passion for early intervention? Stafford & Cannock MHSTs are looking for a Senior Mental Health Support Team Practitioner to join our team working within schools.
We need a Senior who will be effective clinicians and team leads with responsibilities for operational and clinical development, offering a strong contribution to our service delivery and growth.
Are you a fully qualified EMHP or CWP or registered with a core profession (e.g. Social Work/OT/RMN), with significant post qualification/post registration experience?
Are you interested in working with children and young people at an early intervention stage to support their emotional/mental health and wellbeing?
Are you able to assess and identify how best to work with children and young people where there may be more complex mental health needs?
Do you enjoy working within a team, sharing your knowledge of how to support children and young people with colleagues inside and outside of the NHS, focused particularly on partnership working with schools?
Are you keen to develop your clinical skills and offer evidence-based interventions?
Are you able to support and supervise junior practitioners and lead and organise the activity of a team?

Main duties of the job
The post holder will support the delivery of a high quality, comprehensive mental health service for children and young people with emotional health/mental health difficulties. The role involves managing a defined caseload with a focus on working with children and young people and their families who experience a complex range of needs and difficulties. Acting as a key member of the team, the post holder will provide assessment, psychosocial, evidence-based interventions using a collaborative approach and will be skilled at risk assessment and management. They will provide supervision for other team members in an area of interest such as family work, safeguarding, SEND as agreed with the Operational Manager. They will lead on supporting the team with the whole school approach developments and evaluation and offer liaison, advice and consultation with schools and a wide range of external agencies.

Person Specification
QUALIFICATIONS & TRAINING
* Professional clinical qualification - RMN/OT/social Worker or EMHP or CWP with 2 years post qualification experience.
* Evidence of post registered clinical qualifications/training or be able to demonstrate an equivalent level of training to a minimum of post graduate diploma level.
* Evidence of relevant supervision training.
* Conforms to Professional Registration requirements.
* Specific qualification in a relevant therapeutic speciality, e.g. counselling, family work, CBT, substance misuse.
* Qualification in coaching.
* Psychological intervention Qualification including EMDR, CBT, CBTp, Family Interventions, CAT, DBT.
* Registered mentor.
EXPERIENCE
* Extensive post registration experience in mental health care including mental health assessment and risk assessment.
* Use of therapeutic interventions within mental health settings i.e. 1:1, counselling, family therapy and group work.
* Delivering teaching/training and providing consultation.
* Experience of working with CYP who have difficulty in engaging with services and have complex mental health needs.
* Experience of working in community setting and making decisions autonomously.
* Experience of assessing, planning, co-ordinating and managing CYP with mental health problems in a community setting.
* Working with children and young people.
* Providing care in community settings.
* Developing a specialist area on behalf of the Service/ or local Team.
* Developing policies and protocols.
* Working in a multi-disciplinary team.
* Previous experience of Staff/Team Management.
* Experience of presenting at local/national level.
* Experience and ability to carry out clinical audit.
SKILLS, KNOWLEDGE & ABILITIES
* Skilled in the assessment of clinical risk and developing and communicating appropriate risk management plan.
* Knowledge and experience of holistic assessment of CYP's mental health, strengths and needs and appropriate nursing and multi-disciplinary and agency interventions.
* Ability to integrate the assessment, care planning and the review process for service users/carers in a sensitive manner.
* Ability to work to agreed Quality Standards (CQUINS, CQC, NHS OUTCOMES and others).
* Ability to type into and read information from electronic records.
* Understanding of the principles of the Assessment, formulation and care planning for CYP with mental health needs.
* Knowledge of the NICE Guidelines in relation to Mental health and CYP.
