SEN Teaching Assistant
Location: Harborne, Birmingham
Start Date: September 2024
Working Days: Mondays and Fridays (potential to increase to Thursday afternoons)
Contract: Part-time, Full Academic Year (potential for increased hours)
Salary: Competitive, paid via PAYE
We are seeking an experienced and passionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join a welcoming and supportive mainstream primary school in Harborne, Birmingham.
The school places a strong emphasis on student well-being and mental health, with a dedicated staff team committed to helping every child succeed.
Role:
The successful candidate will provide dedicated 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil, ensuring they remain engaged, focused, and motivated in their learning.
This role is ideal for someone with a passion for SEN, a flexible approach, and strong relationship-building skills.
Responsibilities:
- Offering 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil with SEN.
- Helping the pupil stay on task and supporting their learning in class.
- Building a positive relationship with the pupil to foster engagement and focus.
- Working closely with the class teacher and support staff to deliver tailored learning.
Ideal Candidate:
- Holds a relevant qualification (Level 2 or 3 Teaching Assistant qualification, or a degree in Education).
- Experience working with children with SEN.
- A solid understanding of the primary school curriculum.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Patience, positivity, and adaptability.
