The role
Applications are invited for the position of Hospital Manager of The Westbourne Centre. The Westbourne Centre is situated in the middle of Edgbaston, Birmingham and is highly successful in terms of clinical quality and financial growth. The Centre treats self pay, insured and NHS patients. This innovative day surgery centre delivers oral surgery, cosmetic, general surgery, orthopaedic, dermatological and ophthalmic procedures, which it has pioneered through the routine use of sedation and local anaesthetic. The Centre is a unique joint venture between Ramsay Healthcare and Cosmetic Surgery Partnership and has been operational since 2009. Ramsay Healthcare and Cosmetic Surgery Partnership have worked collaboratively over the years to provide high quality care to the patients it serves. The site comprises of a dedicated operating theatre, dental suites, CT dental scanner and outpatient rooms supported by over 40 clinical, administrative and support staff. We are looking for a motivated and enthusiastic manager who will need to be adaptable, innovative and provide mature, excellent leadership. The successful candidate will be a self-starter with business acumen to maintain and drive the service forward in its development plans. They will take on the role of Registered Manager and have the support of the Hospital Director (HD), who has responsibility for 3 sites within the area. A close working relationship with the HD is important as there are opportunities for productive cooperation and enhancement of services that will be mutually beneficial to all the centres. The new manager must undertake the role in a manner that demonstrates commitment to the core values of The Westbourne Centre and Ramsay Healthcare.
What you will be doing:
1. Create a step change in the reach of the hospitals service delivery and service impacts, as part of the wider market strategy for the three hospitals.
2. Sett the strategic direction of the hospitals and forming strong internal and external stakeholder links to successfully deliver it.
3. Grow the business via both developing new business revenue streams / local opportunities and strengthening existing stakeholder relationships, including promoting the hospitals profile, influence and reputation to aid income generation.
4. Support the Hospital Director, in developing a strategy for the development of annual business plans, budget and the use of commercial rigour / insights to manage this effectively.
5. Attract, retain and develop the hospitals workforce in line with both Ramsay and local strategy and individuals own personal development aspirations.
6. Work closely with the Head of Clinical Services to ensure a high level of clinical service, capability and governance within the hospitals.
7. Work closely with the Finance Managers, for the hospitals, to ensure there is appropriate day to day budgetary management, governance and business development.
8. Work closely Operations Managers, for the hospitals, to understand the customer experience and foster a culture of excellent customer service throughout the hospitals.
9. Continually examine opportunities for performance improvement, risk management and champion a culture of continuous quality improvement.
10. Work as part of the Operation team to shape and deliver change and contribute to the overall success of Ramsay Healthcare by participating in corporate projects and supporting colleagues when required.
What you will bring:
11. An excellent understanding of current health industry issues and relevant tertiary / post-graduate qualifications
12. Proven leadership, business development, strategic planning experience and risk management skills
13. Experience of inspiring and managing a large group in a commercial context with strong business acumen
14. Demonstrated experience of leading change in a commercial or health care environment
15. Sound Computer skills using the MS Office Suite and Web based reporting systems
16. Excellent decision-making capabilities, people management skills, communication, negotiation and interpersonal skills including demonstrated experience in liaising with a wide range of internal and external stakeholders
17. A strong desire to influence the hospitals culture and individuals behaviour in a positive way to promote an inspired, well led and collaborative working model whilst maintaining a patient centric approach
