About this opportunity:
With a relentless focus on delivering the current Technology action plan, we're entering the second part of this strategic period with a new focus on Horizon 2 innovation. To support this, we're establishing a new Technology Innovation function to partner with the CTO Emerging Technology & Innovation team.
Together, we'll identify, prioritize, and pioneer a limited number of “big bets,” advancing them through to MVP.
The Lead Product Owner - Technology Innovation role will report to the Director of Technology Innovation. You'll align cross-functional teams, accelerate the delivery of transformative solutions, and embed an innovation attitude across the organisation. You'll own the Innovation Service and its Operating Model, delivering tools and processes to future-proof the business and democratise innovation capabilities.
What you’ll do:
1. Lead a portfolio of Horizon 2 “big bet” opportunities, overseeing resource and funding allocation, prioritisation, and performance tracking.
2. Collaborate across silos with the Director of Technology Innovation, the CTO Emerging Technology team, and other group functions to identify and experiment with emerging technologies that reimagine customer propositions.
3. Drive the delivery of MVPs, ensuring alignment with business value and seamless handover for scaling.
4. Define and oversee the strategic priorities, objectives, key results and value realisation metrics for the Incubation Lab.
5. Foster a “lean fast” attitude, reducing the risks of future technology disruption through creativity, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
6. Develop, own, and iterate the vision and roadmap for the end-to-end Innovation Service and Operating Model.
7. Embed new industry-leading tools, methods, and governance frameworks to test and scale concepts effectively.
8. Drive the design, prototyping, and delivery of innovative solutions within the Incubation Lab, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities and compliance standards.
9. Establish mechanisms for business readiness, change governance, and secure adoption of new technologies.
10. Promote an innovation culture into the organisation by promoting a culture of creativity, continuous learning, and adaptability.
11. Act as a champion for “outside-in” learning, leveraging partnerships with external innovators to drive new thinking and methodologies.
12. Collaborate with internal and external innovation teams to amplify the Group’s overall innovation output.
What you’ll need:
1. Strong understanding of the financial services industry and emerging technology trends.
2. Exceptional collaboration, communication, and stakeholder management skills, with experience working across senior leadership and diverse teams.
3. Proven experience in technology, innovation, and leadership roles, with a passion for creativity and continuous improvement.
4. Ability to simplify complexity and solve ambiguous challenges using hypothesis-driven, test-and-learn approaches.
5. Demonstrated ability to deliver complex initiatives and translate insights into successful outcomes.
6. Bold, determined with the confidence to challenge existing thinking and processes.
