Serco have an exciting opportunity within our Maritime division for a Project Manager- Engineering and Operations to join our team based at HMNB Portsmouth on a hybrid basis. This position will oversee and manage the delivery of operational, engineering, and business process workstreams within the DMS NG maritime programme. Responsibilities include maintaining and managing project plan, RAID logs, lessons learned activities, action logs, reports, and other project documentation to ensure successful workstream/programme execution.
This role supports the delivery of the DMS NG programme, focusing on operations, engineering, and business process workstreams. It aids in delivering prioritised, authorised, and resourced opportunities within the CPMS Contract Director’s operations or as directed by the SEAMS IT Transition Programme Manager. Additionally, this role enhances resilience and supports the EAM portfolio succession plan.
Main Accountabilities:
Engineering & Operational Workstream Management:
⦁ To provide project management expertise and support to the Engineering and Operations Leads to deliver the DMS NG Programme.
⦁ Work with the workstream leads to ensure that all workstreams meet their goals/milestones within the agreed parameters of cost, time, and scope/quality.
⦁ Provide timely and accurate reporting aligned to programme governance including the escalation of issues to the SEAMS IT Transition.
⦁ Facilitate the integration of multiple workstreams to ensure cohesive project delivery and compliance.
⦁ Ensure the delivery is aligned to the contractual and business requirements.
Documentation and Reporting:
⦁ Maintain and manage all workstream/programme documentation, including RAID logs, lessons learned, stakeholder register, communications plan nd reports.
⦁ Ensure that documentation is up-to-date and accurately reflects the status of the projects/workstream aligned with the programme processes.
Stakeholder Engagement and Management:
⦁ Engage with key stakeholders to understand their needs and ensure their requirements are met.
⦁ Facilitate regular stakeholder meetings and provide updates on project progress.
Process Improvement and Innovation:
⦁ Identify opportunities for process improvements within the operational engineering and business process workstreams.
⦁ Implement innovative solutions to enhance project delivery and operational efficiency.
Training and Capability Building:
⦁ Support the training and development of team members to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge.
⦁ Promote a culture of continuous learning and improvement within the team.
Risk and Issue Management:
⦁ Identify and manage risks and issues within the programme.
⦁ Develop and implement mitigation strategies and contingencies to address potential challenges.
What you’ll need to do the role:
⦁ Based in Portsmouth area and visit the office area 2 to 3 days per week.
⦁ Proficient in Microsoft Office and Microsoft Project.
⦁ Previous experience in asset management and resource scheduling in a digital world are desirable.
⦁ Experience in a unionised environment is also desirable.
⦁ Microsoft Visio or equivalent process mapping tool/ Power BI experience is desirable.
