Are you a passionate and experienced clinical leader looking to make a significant impact on maternity and neonatal services? Birmingham and Solihull Local Maternity and Neonatal System (BSOL LMNS) is seeking a Clinical Director (Quality Chair) to provide senior clinical leadership and support for the local implementation of the National Maternity Strategy. This role is pivotal in overseeing perinatal quality objectives and ensuring continuous improvement of clinical outcomes for pregnant women and their babies.

Main duties of the job:
* Provide expertise and specialist clinical leadership to the ICS on the care of pregnant women, birthing people, and newborns.
* Lead the BSOL maternity quality oversight processes and ensure timely reports on the quality and safety of maternity care.
* Advise the ICB on issues related to pregnancy, postnatal care, and reproductive health.
* Chair the ICS Maternity & Neonatal Risk & Quality Committee, setting agendas and providing senior clinical leadership.
* Oversee perinatal and maternal mortality and morbidity within the ICS, providing support to providers as necessary.
* Engage with provider leads to improve the quality of care and services.
* Represent BSOL LMNS at NHS E/I Regional and National meetings.
* Current NMC registration (for midwives) or substantive consultant registered with GMC.
* Proven knowledge of clinical governance and effective operational systems.
* Experience in quality and safety within maternity and neonatal services.
* Strong strategic awareness of NHS issues and their implications.
* Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to work effectively in multidisciplinary teams.
* Commitment to delivering quality, safe, and patient-focused services.

Person Specification:
Qualifications:
* Current NMC registration (midwives only) or substantive consultant registered with GMC. Experience in obstetrics and gynaecology.
* Satisfactory record of continuous professional development.
* Employed or recently employed within Maternity and Neonatal Services.
Desirable:
* General Management qualification or evidence of participation in management development opportunities / Master's Level relevant Qualification.
Experience:
Essential:
* Proven knowledge of clinical governance and effective operational systems, workforce planning, educational and specialist clinical knowledge. Proven track record of quality and safety within maternity and neonatal services.
* An understanding of workforce, recruitment and retention clinical / medical recruitment and training challenges.
* Demonstrates good strategic awareness of wider NHS issues and the implication of NHS drivers on Trust and Local Maternity & Neonatal System services.
Desirable:
* Proven track record of quality improvement programmes and understanding of health inequalities.
Knowledge:
Essential:
* Extensive involvement in management / operational roles, including information governance, professional registrant issues or MHPS.
* Considerable experience in clinical quality and safety leadership roles, including board sub-committees.
* Proven experience of clinical risk management, assurance and quality improvement.
