Job Title: Shift Supervisor

POSITION SUMMARY
This position is accountable for ensuring that all plant production units are running safely, efficiently and producing the proper amount of product as indicated by the production plan and meeting quality specifications. The incumbent is also responsible for supervising Operators working a rotating shift schedule and providing the leadership needed to maximize unit effectiveness. As required, the individual in this position will take timely corrective action when process or personnel problems arise. You will also be required to cover Operator shifts when required.
THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE POSITION INCLUDE BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE FOLLOWING:
1. Utilizes effective leadership over direct reports to maximize employee productivity and contribution from each of the process areas.
2. Willing to cover Operator shifts or other duties when required.
3. Participates in Safety and Environmental initiatives that will contribute to compliance of State/Federal regulations and improve existing Company programs.
4. Works with Kidderminster Operations Manager and members of staff to ensure the goals and objectives of the production area are achieved.
5. Ensures adherence to procedures that promote the safety and health of all facility employees.
6. Contributes to minimizing the environmental impact of the facility.
7. Implements and/or administers all policies and procedures designed for the Reactors department.
8. Trains and develops personnel to provide a sufficient skill base for a safe, efficient production facility.
9. Recognizes the successful efforts of employees to increase productivity, reduce costs and improve work processes.
10. Performs other related duties as assigned to ensure the efficient and effective functioning of the department.
11. Assist chemical operators as needed which includes charging and packaging mixers including wearing appropriate PPE which may include wearing a respirator.
12. Safely operate an industrial lift truck.
IN ORDER TO BE QUALIFIED FOR THIS ROLE, YOU MUST POSSESS THE FOLLOWING:
1. Minimum 5 years’ chemical plant manufacturing experience is preferred.
2. Well versed in product manufacturing and materials.
3. SAP experience is preferred.
4. Must be able to wear and properly utilize appropriate personal protective equipment if required to work or visit within the manufacturing process area.
5. The ability to identify critical operational issues and formulate action plans with all levels of plant personnel is required. In addition, the ability to develop and foster positive work environment within work groups and ability to resolve conflicts through problem resolution skills is essential.
THE FOLLOWING SKILL SETS ARE PREFERRED BY THE BUSINESS UNIT:
1. History of strong attendance and performance.
2. Ability to coach and be coached.
3. Ability to be safe, innovative, flexible, self-starting, honest and open.
4. Experience with computers.
5. Ability to work as a member of an integrated team.
6. Ability to read/follow procedures & write down clear instructions.
