Clare Vets is expanding, and we’re on the lookout for a passionate and dedicated Small Animal Veterinary Surgeon to join our friendly, supportive, and growing team! If you’re looking for a role where you can build strong client relationships, develop your surgical skills, and work within a fantastic team, this could be the perfect opportunity for you.
Our facilities
As a well-established mixed practice, we primarily care for small animals, with less than a quarter of our work dedicated to farm animals and a small amount of equine cases. Our patients range from dogs and cats to rabbits, small furries, and even some exotics.
Our purpose-built practice offers a modern and well-equipped environment, featuring four consulting rooms, two theatres, an X-ray room, a prep area, a dedicated dental suite, separate cat and dog kennels, and an isolation unit. We also have a purpose-built large animal facility with separate reception areas for both small and large animal clients. And with our Cavehill branch currently expanding, we’re excited to be upgrading our kennels and cattery to enhance patient care even further.
Discover a diversity of caseload and experience
In this role, you’ll have the best of both worlds spending around two-thirds of your time in consultations, really getting to know your clients and their pets, while dedicating the remaining time to surgery. As a busy hospital, we see a wide range of procedures, from routine neutering and dentals to more advanced soft tissue surgeries, BOAS procedures, TECA, and minor orthopaedics. While the majority of surgeries are completed on-site, we have excellent referral options for more complex orthopaedic and specialist cases. We also know how important continuity of care is, so wherever possible, you’ll have the opportunity to follow your cases through and build lasting relationships with clients.
We are proud to be a multi-site practice with our main hospital in Ballyclare and three additional RCVS-accredited branches in Cavehill, Carrickfergus, and Whiteabbey.
Meet our dynamic team
Across the group, we have a fantastic team of 22 vets, 10 FTE RVNs, and an amazing support team, including auxiliary nurses, receptionists, administrators, and management. Our team includes certificate holders in Surgery, ECC, and Consultation, with vets currently working towards their Herd Health Leadership certificate. We also have a visiting cardiology specialist and a rehabilitation expert specialising in physiotherapy and laser therapy.
As a practice with deep roots in the community, we love supporting local charities and giving back wherever we can.
