Hays are recruiting on behalf of a fantastic primary school in Preston, who are looking for a Teaching Assistant to work in their Year 2 class. The school is well-run with an established and friendly leadership team. Transport links are good, with secure on-site parking free for staff. The school is easily accessible by bus for those who don't drive. This is to cover maternity leave, so is expected to extend for the full academic year, starting in September.
Your new role
The successful applicant will work as a general Teaching Assistant in a Year 2 class. This is a diverse classroom with children who have varying levels of ability. There are no major SEND needs within the group, although you will support the Class Teacher with identifying pupils who are falling behind or struggling with work. Additionally, you will take small groups of children outside the classroom and support them with subjects like phonics and reading (intervention groups).
What you'll need to succeed
The successful applicant will have recent experience working with children, in either a school or similar setting. A Teaching Assistant or childcare-based qualification is desirable, but not a deal-breaker. Applicants must pass Hays vetting and DBS process; upon application, a recruiter will be in touch to guide you through this process.
