GSK R&D and Digital & Tech’s collective goal is to deliver GSK impact, including the acceleration of the discovery and development of medicines and vaccines to patients. R&D Digital & Tech are the key Tech partner to support the R&D Ambition of bringing more medicines and vaccines to our projected 2.5 billion Patients and support our scientists by supercharging R&D with Data. The Quality Engineering and Labs (QE&L) function is pivotal for this, as it looks after the ~500 systems that support the end-to-end R&D process and all the systems that sit within the Laboratories.
The Lab instrument is a core but immensely diverse part of the R&D Data and Scientist’s journey. This role covers all elements of the laboratory instrument landscape, especially those that create large amounts of data, particularly image data. This will include working with scientists, Lab Engineering, and other functions within Tech. This Senior Product Owner will bring clarity, standardisation, and harmonisation across these critical systems within the Labs in R&D, from early Research to Clinical, following the end-to-end medicine and vaccines discovery, development, and industrialising processes.
The Product Owner, High Content Instrument Capture, will report directly to the Senior Director, Lab Instrument Engineering & Capture. This role is a technical role with a deep understanding of software and how it works to optimise content processing and coding to define approaches and principles, working with technical teams to creatively find solutions to R&D problems.
This leader is accountable for the roadmap of complex processes and systems that should deliver ready-now value within the Lab while ensuring that both current and future visions are aligned.
Technically, this leader should have a deep knowledge of what good product management entails, with a very good knowledge of product design, DevSecOps, Quality Engineering, and delivery of products that create standardised and contextualised data. Experience in ideating new technology and how that can be embedded to improve the R&D experience, specifically for AI/ML, is essential.
In this role you will:
* Partner with R&D on specific large data-producing instruments.
* Demonstrate deep Software Technical knowledge, including software development principles, primarily with Python.
* Deliver modern solutions to optimise R&D opportunities, especially techniques like compute, knowledge graph, and AI/ML.
* Build exceptional relationships and ensure strategic and operational alignment to R&D’s ambitions.
* Work across the Quality Engineering and Labs team to align to a strategy and utilise capabilities.
* Drive standardization, metadata, and contextualization across the diverse instrument landscape.
* Understand all Laboratory processes and support R&D with an enterprise view of value.
Qualifications & Skills:
* Degree or equivalent in Science, Engineering, Computing, Math’s or other relevant subject.
* Significant experience in senior technology delivery roles.
* Experience in managing global projects and multi-cultural project teams.
* Excellent leadership and interpersonal skills.
