Job description
Full Time, Fixed Term for 4 years.
An exciting opportunity has arisen within Private Housing Services for an Environmental Health Housing Apprentice. This 4-year apprenticeship program will train you to become a qualified Environmental Health Housing Officer and earn a BSc (Hons) in Environmental Health. It's a unique chance to earn while you learn. We invite applications from enthusiastic and dedicated individuals committed to pursuing a degree. We especially welcome applicants with local community knowledge from Bristol.
As an Environmental Health Housing Apprentice, you will collaborate and work with colleagues in the Private Housing Service, as well as with other internal departments and external organisations as required, to improve environmental health housing outcomes. Your role will focus on improving standards and conditions in Bristol's private rented sector and supporting the planning, implementation, and evaluation of Environmental Health Housing initiatives.
The knowledge gained on the course will cover a wide area of Environmental Health, whilst the apprentice "skills" standards will be completed with a focus on Environmental Health Housing; however, there will be opportunities to spend some time in other environmental health teams such as food safety, pollution and health and safety to allow for a broader practical understanding. You will learn to apply your professional knowledge and skills in a broader context in practice.
To be successful in this role, you will need to have good communication skills and strong interpersonal skills as you will be engaging with a wide range of stakeholders. An understanding of Environmental Health Housing in relation to the Private Housing Sector in the Bristol area is a must.
