We are looking to recruit an enthusiastic Pharmacy Assistant in ward service - Senior Medicines Management Assistant to join the Pharmacy Team in the South, with a base at Kingsway, to participate in the safe, effective, and responsive pharmaceutical supply services to DHCFT.
We are currently preparing to move into our exciting new mental health facility being built on site. Once all wards are configured into the new build there will be 2 female and a mother and baby ward at Radbourne unit on UHDB site, 3 acute male, a PICU, and a female enhanced care ward on Kingsway site. We also have 3 older adult, 1 rehabilitation, and 2 forensic wards on Kingsway.
All duties will be carried out under the supervision of Registered Technicians, but you will be expected to work without close supervision following SOP's to ensure supply of medicine standards are met.
Ideally, the applicant will be able to work Thursday and Fridays, with the addition of a half day on Monday to Wednesday to fit into our staffing group and provide a balanced service Monday-Friday.
Parking is free onsite, and reimbursed when travelling to community teams. The applicant is expected to be able to independently travel between sites.
Weekend working is voluntary when the service requires, and bank holiday working is shared across the department.
Applicants need to have achieved or be working towards NVQ level 2 in pharmacy services or equivalent and have completed before the post commences.
Main duties of the job
* Maintain the supply of medicines to wards and community mental health teams to ensure a high level of patient care is maintained and pharmacy standards are adhered to.
* Take responsibility for pharmacy audits, ensuring they're carried out 3 monthly as per pharmacy schedule.
* Create great working relationships with wards and community teams, with clear communication skills.
* Support ward/community teams with maintenance and organisation of pharmacy record keeping and resources, such as delivery notes, information booklets, pharmacy ward memos, and information posters.
* Maintain up-to-date prescriptions for in-house and external supplier Polarspeed by communicating with prescribers, and reporting overstock of depots to Polarspeed as well as in-house pharmacy.
* Answer queries on the supply and availability of medicines.
* Provide support to dispensary and distribution at Kingsway Hospital, Derby.

You must hold a GPhC approved level 2 Pharmacy Support worker qualification and GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths and dual award GCSE or equivalent in science.
