POST: Mental Health Helpline Operator LOCATION: Ripley, Derbyshire WORK BASE: Office based SALARY: £24,004.50 - £25,818.00 per annum (full-time equivalent) plus enhanced rates of pay for nights and weekend shifts RESPONSIBLE TO: Service Manager (or nominee) DBS CHECK: This post is subject to Adult and Child Workforce Regulations (DBS) P3 have an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a Mental Health Helpline Operator to join our team in Ripley, Derbyshire. As a Helpline Operator you will provide telephone support services to people using the Mental Health Helpline with the objective of preventing escalation to a clinical mental health intervention. Helpline Operators will be the first point of contact within the mental health helpline. The role includes greeting callers, establishing rapport, and assessing the level of risk and need. You will then provide advice and guidance to the callers exploring practical solutions utilising community resources where possible and signpost callers to relevant services. Follow up support will also be provided on a planned non-crisis basis. Training will be given to ensure you are equipped with the skills to ensure that the calls are managed effectively with a focus on accessing available community resources to help manage their mental wellbeing, avoiding a clinical intervention where possible.
