About The Role
As a Home Care Assistant you will provide care to individuals within their own homes. This will involve travelling between clients through the community as well as our retirement villages. You’ll perform a variety of tasks according to the Person Centred Care Plan, which may change periodically depending upon the needs and wishes of the customer. We’re committed to giving you the best start possible, and you will receive thorough training, including shadow training with an Experienced Worker before being expected to work alone.
Our team is growing and we have immediate opportunities for people to join us working either full or part-time. A full-time contract will consist of a fully flexible, 30-hour week while part-time requires a minimum commitment of 16 hours weekly. Due to the location, you will need to be willing to travel and be able to drive to rural areas, with business insurance. You will be paid at your full hourly rate of £11.09 from the beginning of your shift to the end, including your travel time and breaks in between; the rate increases to £11.28 per hour on weekends. On top of this, you will also be paid 45p for every mile that you drive between calls.
The needs of our customers can vary greatly. Some will need personal care to help them get up and dressed in the morning, bathing, taking medication, and ensuring their nutritional needs are met. Others require domestic support, so you’ll help them out around the house with general housework, laundry, and shopping. You could also assist in more specific areas such as financial care by collecting their pension for them or helping to budget effectively and manage their bills. Some customers just need a little support to help them remain active socially; you might accompany them to activities such as local clubs or on days out.
About You
As a Home Care Assistant, you’ll value kindness above all and keep the client at the heart of everything you do. Our aim is to ensure that our clients receive the highest standard of care to live well independently. By joining us, you’ll have a wonderful opportunity to support all aspects of day-to-day living and see firsthand the difference you make to the lives of those you care for. Ideally, you’ll have previous experience in a care environment, but this is not essential. Above all, you’ll be reliable, have a kind and caring attitude, a desire to help others, and a flexible approach to work. You’ll be friendly and approachable with the ability to quickly build rapport and put people at ease, always having respect for those you care for and their dignity.
