Role Description
In summary, principal accountabilities are as set out below:
1. Optimises equipment performance to meet and exceed key performance indicators in the areas of Safety, Food, Product & Process Safety, Quality, Yield, OEE, Cost, Right First Time, and Service. Initiates corrective actions where required standards are not being met.
2. Monitors compliance with CCPs always.
3. Monitors and ensures correct disposal of waste.
4. Audits and verifies area of responsibility ensuring we are doing what we say we are doing against our processes, policies, and compliance requirements.
5. Ensures that the cleaning of lines to a set standard is achieved. Hygiene audits to be carried out on time.
6. Records information on shift reports and performs effective detailed shift handover/hygiene walk round – following a structured format.
7. Conducts daily tours of the area – auditing all KPIs.
8. Liaises with internal suppliers over material problems and reports on quality issues (e.g., raise a QNC).
9. Checks, fault finds, and problem solves, seeing any actions through to completion. Raises work requests if required.
10. Demonstrates understanding of complex problems and can identify and implement solutions to resolve using basic problem-solving tools.
11. Always obtains required standards for area of responsibility – taking positive actions to correct if sub-standard.
12. Communicates effectively with key stakeholders, including team members, peers, and line managers.
13. Understands effects and takes appropriate actions of their area’s performance internally and externally.
14. Continuously and constructively challenges current ways.
15. Identifies and acts upon opportunities for improvement.
16. Shares with peer group best practices and key learnings to ensure optimum performance across a shift system.
17. Will be self-motivated, committed to all aspects of their role and require little supervision; teamwork is therefore essential for success within a fully integrated manufacturing team.
18. Identifies team training needs and addresses them with peers.
19. Leads/supports people processes as directed by Shift Coordinator, i.e., absence management, investigation support.
20. Enthuses and encourages others to work towards common goals and delivery of departmental objectives and KPIs.
21. Recognises own successes and areas for development.
22. Prepares for own EDR and supports delivery of operators' EDR, giving constructive feedback.
23. Ensures all SAP and MES transactions and reports are completed in a timely manner.
24. Ensures operations engineering PMs are completed to the required frequency and standard.
25. Leads, implements, and sustains new PMS standardisation methods, changing the way we operate in the department/site.
26. Ensures that training tasks are up to date by reviewing training matrices, identifying, and putting in place training plans to cover any gaps in skills. Reviews and completes sign-off for training documentation, i.e., SOPs as required.
27. Deputises for the Shift Coordinator due to holidays/sickness/training courses etc. and fulfills their duties and responsibilities of that role.
28. Flexibility to be moved/trained across the site and to utilise skills in other departments.

Role Requirements
1. Experience within a food-processing environment and understanding of hygiene standards is essential.
2. Competent numeracy/literacy skills.
3. Demonstrable experience in driving continuous improvement.
4. Experience in managing/directing a team.
