Assistant Accountant
Salary: £35,000
Location: Cambridge (Hybrid, 35 hours per week)

We are looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented Assistant Accountant to join our clients friendly and hardworking Finance Team. This role offers the opportunity to play a key part in supporting the Group CFO and Deputy CFO, contributing to the smooth running of the finance department and ensuring month-end processes are completed accurately and on time.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare month-end balance sheet reconciliations.
Maintain accruals, prepayments, and fixed asset registers.
Assist with management accounts, forecasting, and variance analysis for multiple entities.
Prepare weekly financial and performance reports.
Support accounts assistants and ensure timely completion of month-end tasks.
Manage cash flow monitoring and reporting.
Process pension submissions, salary allocations, and invoices.
Assist with annual budgeting, audits, and financial statements.
Oversee payment processing, bond payments, and commission reconciliations.
Identify and implement improvements to financial systems and processes.
Skills & Qualifications:
Essential:
Minimum 3 years' experience in an accounting role.
AAT Level 4 qualification or similar.
Strong understanding of basic accounting, reconciliations, and journal preparation.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Ability to work independently and within a team.
Highly numerate with strong attention to detail.
Proficient in Excel and Microsoft Office.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
Ability to problem-solve and work on own initiative.
Willingness to travel occasionally to London (once a month approx)
Desirable:
Experience working with subsidiaries.
Familiarity with Sage 200 or similar accounting software.
