SEMH Teaching Assistant KS3 & KS4 classes General classroom support Special School (ASD & SEMH) Full-Time Swindon September Start Long-term Teachers are working closely with a fantastic Special secondary school in the Swindon area. They are looking for a TA to join the team from September in providing support across classes in KS3 & KS4. This school look after students with a rang of needs but are primarily focused around Social, Emotional & Mental Health needs (SEMH) & ASD. The work the staff do at this school is unbelievably rewarding as you're supporting young people who desperately need the support. Due to the needs of the students, they can often exhibit challenging behaviour so it is imperative you enjoy working these types of students. The Role This role will be mixture of general classroom support and 1-1 work in a variety of different subjects. As this school is a secondary school following mainstream curriculum, it helps to specialise in a particular subject but this is not essential. For example if you were to specialise in Art then the school would most likely be able to prioritise you for Art classes. The work at this school can be tough but just so rewarding - we have many staff that have worked at this school through us that have ended up joining them on a permanent basis. The school are also in the position to provide you with support to progress to a role with more responsibility if that's something you want in the future. You will be expected to: Be adaptable and flexible around the needs of the pupils. Have experience of working with SEMH/ASD. Feel confident in dealing with challenging behaviour.
