About Us Inter-Lec Limited is an NICEIC Approved Electrical Contractor located near Retford, Nottinghamshire. Primarily, we are a specialist bespoke pump motor control manufacturer We design, build, install and maintain the control panels for sites located throughout the midlands. We also provide electrical testing and inspection services to various industries and will use fault-finding devices to diagnose and report concerns. We subsequently offer maintenance and remedial services to help ensure the safe and effective functioning of systems. Inter-Lec also install temporary electrical systems at shows and events throughout the midlands. We provide the generator power and distribution equipment for a range of events including music festivals, trade shows, Christmas Markets and even County shows. The Vacancy We are seeking to recruit an enthusiastic, motivated and qualified electrician, capable of working alone or within a team dependent on the task to be undertaken. Candidates should be able to work independently and have the ability to assess appropriate health and safety requirements. The individual should be self-motivated and able to complete tasks to a high standard in a timely manner. The successful candidate will have proven experience in the building and maintenance of electrical control panels, will have a proficiency in diagnosing and repairing faults and will be keen to widen their skills base. Job Hours We operate a standard 40 hour working week. Normal hours are 8:30am 5pm Monday to Thursday and 8am to 4:30pm on Fridays. Overtime is available both during the week and in some cases, particularly when working on events, is available on weekends. Purpose of the role To use a working knowledge of electrical systems to conduct maintenance, fault finding and diagnostics of existing systems. To construct complex electrical panels using schematic wiring diagrams. To install temporary electrical systems for shows and events. Duties and responsibilities Construct complex electrical and electronic panels following the use of schematic wiring drawings. Travel to off-site locations to install new electrical systems (including lighting, control and heating), in line with customer requirements. Ensure the proper placement and connection of electrical equipment and that completed works comply with relevant codes and regulations. Ensure the safety, efficiency and reliability of electrical installations, including emergency lighting and fire detection systems. Troubleshooting: Inspection and Testing of electrical systems using fault-finding techniques and devices to diagnose a variety of problems. Carry out appropriate electrical remedial works to ensure the safe and effective functionality of systems. Conduct routine maintenance and monitor equipment where necessary both on and off site. Assess the parts and materials required to complete a job and advise the Company in order that these parts can be sourced in a timely manner. Ensure good quality workmanship; upholding company standards, compliance of building codes and always ensuring the satisfaction of relevant Health and Safety requirements. Install electrical systems to 18 th edition wiring regulations. Maintain an up-to-date knowledge of current regulations and attend courses and training where applicable. Demonstrate familiarity with NICEIC requirements and standards. Provide professional assessments and exceptional customer service and answer any customer questions or concerns in a tactful and polite manner. Person Specification The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, knowledge and experience: Completion of a relevant electricians apprenticeship to include Testing and Inspection. Panel wiring - ability to read schematic drawings. Good knowledge of wiring regulations and certification. Valid UK Driving Licence. ECS Card an advantage. Good GCSEs or equivalent in Mathematics, Physics and English are desirable. Ability to work under pressure and to complete tasks in a timely manner. Physically fit. Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces. Methodical with good attention to detail. Satisfactory passing of a colour vision test. Experienced in the use of a wide range of electric and power tools. Strong problem solving skills to address challenges and to ensure appropriate repairs. Effective communication skills to interact with clients and colleagues, and to convey technical information clearly. Candidates must be eligible to work in the UK.
