About the Role
The Site Supervisor/Site Engineer is directly responsible for ensuring that all works carried out on site are to standards and conducted safely. This includes civils & construction, streetworks & utilities, and construction of underground electricity networks being installed in a safe and professional manner to NERS standard and in accordance with Charles Brand Method Statements. Elements of expertise will include NWSRA, NIRUAC, CSCS, Civil Engineering, IOSH, CDM, Sub Contractor and Direct Labour management amongst others.
Key Responsibilities
1. Responsible to Qualified Supervisor
2. To work safely at all times and ensure safety of all those working around them
3. To be able to recognise danger and suspend work activities until safe to proceed
4. To carry out a formal risk assessment of the workplace, record accurately and brief staff appropriately
5. To be suitably trained to carry out works within the public adopted highway
6. To ensure appropriate supervision of staff and sub-contractors
7. To have an understanding of civils construction, cable & multi utility networks
8. To be effectively administer first aid
9. To review and understand work instructions prior to any work commencement
10. To have a good understanding of plans and drawings
11. To oversee excavation of cable trenches and joint bays (power/fibre/other utility) using handheld tools and equipment
12. To oversee excavation of cable trenches and joint bays (power/fibre/other utility) using mechanical excavators
13. To oversee low voltage mains and service cables
14. To oversee high voltage cables installation to specification
15. To oversee civils construction projects for infrastructure
16. To control reinstatement to NIRAUC standards
17. To attend team meetings and toolbox talks
18. To work in a safe, efficient and competent manner
19. To comply with the requirements of the Charles Brand Health and Safety, Quality and Environment policies.
20. To report all accidents and near misses.
21. To work in accordance with all Charles Brand procedures and policies
Essential Criteria
22. Proven record of Supervision of staff and sub-contractors
23. NRSWA for Supervisors
24. Signing, lighting & guarding for Supervisors
25. CSCS Supervisor Card
26. Interpretation of plans & records
27. Manual handling training
28. Clean driving license
29. First Aid (advanced 3 day)
30. Risk assessment training/IOSH
31. Experienced in civils engineering projects
32. Experience of utilities in the public highway
33. Ability to pass security clearance checks
34. Understanding of 1:500 plans
35. Track record of technical & civils project delivery.
Preferred Criteria
36. Basic Electrical Safety Training/previous NERS Passport/DNO authorisation
37. Demonstrated Civils Engineering qualification.
38. Demonstrated experience working on or adjacent to live electricity networks within the Electrical Distribution Industry
39. Demonstarted Cable Laying experience
40. Demonstrated experience working in the utility sector
41. Civils Engineering Degree or qualification, HND/HNC Electrical Mechanical Engineer or high previously held DNO authorisations.
42. Temporary Works Co-ordinator and/or Supervisor accreditation
43. IOSH Managing Safely and/or NBOSH Construction Certification
