About the Role - Whittaker Engineering Ltd have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced, skilled and reliable Pipefitter to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in the energy sector, with proven expertise in pipefitting processes and materials preparation. As a Pipefitter, you will be responsible for ensuring the accurate fabrication, fitting, and installation of piping systems, adhering to stringent quality standards and client specifications. A keen attention to detail and commitment to safety is essential.
Responsibilities
* Responsible for preparing and organising materials required for pipefitting tasks, ensuring all components meet quality and specification standards
* Accurately interpret isometric drawings and technical documents to fabricate, assemble, and install piping systems
* Use a range of hand tools, machinery, and specialized equipment to fabricate pipework and perform tasks such as cutting, threading, and bending
* Perform tack welding and preliminary welding of pipe joints and fit-ups to a high standard, ensuring structural integrity and alignment for further welding or installation
* Carry out dimensional inspection of spools upon completion to confirm alignment and accuracy
* Maintain and enforce strict adherence to the company’s Quality Assurance system, ensuring traceability of materials and compliance with industry standards
* Ensure that materials and processes meet both company and client specifications, completing required documentation for quality audits
Qualifications & Skills
Essential:
* Time-served Pipefitter with relevant industry certifications
* Extensive experience in the energy sector, with a focus on industrial pipefitting applications
* Proficiency in reading and interpreting isometric drawings and technical schematics
* Hands-on experience with both carbon steel and exotic alloy grades of piping materials
* Familiarity with Automet dimensional control is an advantage, though not mandatory
* Strong understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations within a workshop or operational setting
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team, ensuring efficiency and accuracy in all tasks
