We seek an experiencedpharmacy technician with strong communication skills and varied experience tojoin our team, making the best use of medicines to improve health and wellbeingin Dorset.

You will support clinicians to incorporate medicines intoclinical pathways in the most safe and cost-effective manner.
Your main responsibilities will include:
1. Systemwide delivery and maintenance of theDorset Formulary
2. Management of technical monitoring ofincentives in secondary care
3. Management of the Primary Care prescribingdigital support.
4. Giving commissioning advice on pharmaceuticalswithin new or existing pathways, including during service re-design.
5. Assisting and co-ordinating the drug decisionmaking process within pathways across the System as needed, supporting thegovernance functions behind these.
6. Playing an active role in the senior managementteam and direct line management of technicians.
7. Helping to deliver change and transformationprojects to meet the requirements of the NHS Long Term Plan and NHS ContractualFrameworks
Main duties of the job
As a representative of the medicines team, your role wouldinvolve:
8. Attend ICB, Providers Meetings and AdvisoryGroups, representing the medicines team.
9. An active role in Better Value Group and monitoringeffective implementation of incentive schemes in secondary care.
10. An active role in Formulary Working Group.
11. Provide advice on various aspects of commissioning.
12. Prescribing and Medicines Optimisation: workwith prescribers to ensure that medicines are used in the most effective way acrossall sectors and working to ensure the Dorset formulary remains a credible trusteddocument with appropriate peer review and underpinning all decision making forthe system.
13. Ensure the safe and effective use of medicines.Your advice can significantly impact patient care and outcomes.
14. Ensure ICB and system priorities for medicinesoptimisation are effectively delivered.
15. Data manipulation and interpretation to presentto a variety of audiences.
16. Facilitate and support the transformation ofmedicines optimisation services in the clinical pathways and ensure best valuein medicines optimisation for Dorset.
17. Contribution or preparation and presentation of reports,system groups.
18. Manage changing priorities using strongorganisational skills, attention to detail, the ability to work independentlyand collaboratively, and the flexibility to adapt to changing circumstances.

The postholder will be responsible for:
36. Leadership to technical workforce in the ICBmedicines team.
37. Senior technical leadership for medicinesoptimisation implementation.
38. Support pharmacy leadership in effectivegovernance of medicines commissioning hosted in the Dorset Formulary.
39. Oversee systems that support a system wideapproach to medicines commissioning, safety and value including high-costdrugs.
40. Provide technical leadership of communication ofmedicines optimisation to system partners.
41. Hold decision making discretion, representingthe team / department / function at identified groups, providing advice onmatters relating to own work area.
42. Build and maintain working relationships and influencesacross the system with: Pharmacistsand technicians in the medicines team;Medicines teams acrossthe system; Practice staff and prescribers in the Dorset system; Primary careteam; Contracting teams in the ICB and NHS England; Business Intelligence andfinance teams; IT and Communications teams; Local Medical committee; CommunityPharmacy Dorset; NHSBSA and other external agencies.
43. Working conditions are predominantly officestyle (either within ICB offices or from home), requiring the use of displayscreen equipment. There may beoccasional exposure to indirect emotional circumstances.
44. There will be occasional travel within thecounty to ICB sites, hospitals, GP practices, and occasional meetings out ofcounty.

45. Registered with the GPHC as a Pharmacy Technician
46. Evidence of continuing professional development
47. Post-registration/graduate diploma level or equivalent in a relevant subject, or equivalent level of knowledge or experience
