Job overview
We are pleased to offer this exciting opportunity to join our friendly and dynamic Community Mental Health Team in Walsall North as a part-time (0.8wte) 8a Senior Psychologist. We provide a community-based psychological therapies service for working age adults, who are involved within secondary care services. You will work closely with CMHT colleagues as well as with a variety of other mental health professionals, services and agencies. Therefore confidence, strong communication skills and experience of working within multi-disciplinary teams is essential.
We are able to negotiate preceptorship terms for newly qualified staff who can start on Band 7 initially, and are open to negotiating alternative hours and flexible working patterns.
Main duties of the job
Our local population is highly diverse and our clients often also experience socio-economic difficulties. Our client group often presents with high complexity of psychological need; we offer therapy to those who frequently present with Complex PTSD and/or who often attract a diagnosis of personality disorder. Therefore we are looking for people who are passionate about working directly with challenging and often risky presentations, and we will support our staff to maximise their clinical skill set and develop new and innovative ways of working.
As well as offering specialist assessment and psychological treatment interventions, you will also develop complex formulations individually and within the team, offer supervision, consultancy, reflective practice groups and training to your CMHT colleagues. We have strong links to the local Clinical and Counselling Psychology Doctorate courses and you will be encouraged to teach and take on trainees too.
Support will come directly from the 8b Clinical Lead within the area but also the Consultant Clinical Psychologist and Team Manager. You will have access to clinical, professional and management supervision. We have access to a healthy training budget, as well as access to Health Education England training opportunities. Our aim is to welcome you, get to know you, value and develop you.
Working for our organisation
Members of our wider psychology team have broad therapeutic interests ranging from psychodynamic to systemic/narrative and cognitive-behavioural models as well as expertise in consultancy, supervision and training and form a supportive network for staff. We are well led by the Divisional Lead Psychologist and the Director of Therapies, thus offering Psychology and AHP staff closer and more direct ties to the Trust Board. The Trust is currently going through Community Transformation, which is leading to many new opportunities and ways of working. We also have a strong commitment to the wellbeing of all our staff and working in accordance to Trust values.
