Fantastic opportunity to secure a permanent DevOps Engineer role in Smart DCC. The DevOps Engineer role is for our Enterprise IT Cloud based services and infrastructure, working as part of a team of Cloud Architects and DevOps engineers. The DevOps Engineer role includes design, deployment, configuration, and support, of Cloud-based infrastructure and platforms as part of a delivery and enablement team to meet business requirements. Working pattern is predominantly operating within core business hours but some work outside of normal business hours may be required on occasion.
What will you be doing?
1. To be a subject matter expert Cloud DevOps engineer within the Enterprise IT Cloud Team.
2. To work with Smart DCC’s partners and internal customers to provide design assurance, guidance, and infrastructure-as-code translations of solution designs including liaising and managing customer expectations and setting realistic timeframes.
3. Delivering automation, patching, scripts, alerting, configuration, and technical management within Smart DCC’s Cloud environments.
4. Manage and maintain CI/CD SDLC pipelines, repositories, and tooling.
5. Development of re-usable IaC modules and scripts.
6. Ensuring the reliability, security, performance, cost-efficiency, and operational excellence of Cloud platforms and infrastructure.
7. Producing clear and concise documentation, processes, procedures, and training material to support other members of the team.
What are we looking for?
1. Current AWS certification at Associate level or higher alongside experience of working aligned to ITIL practices and principles with familiarity with Lean-Agile and Waterfall workflows, methodologies, and practices.
2. Extensive AWS technical experience required, including CLI, API, and console in a multi-account Organization. This should include Networking components such as VPCs, NACLs, SecurityGroups, DX, VPN, TransitGateway, NetworkFirewall, NLB/ALB, and WAF. Logging and alerting components including CloudWatch LogStreams and Alarms, CloudTrail, S3, SNS and EventBridge. Compute and Storage including EC2, ECS, EKS, EBS, EFS, S3 and AWS Backup. Organisational and account-level platforms such as AWS Config, SecurityHub, ControlTower, SCPs, TrustedAdvisor, Inspector and Systems Manager. Serverless platforms such as Lambda, SQS, Fargate, and API Gateway. RDS experience and exposure to DataLake/ LakeHouse platforms such as RedShift, Glue, and Athena and IAM roles and policies.
3. Deep experience and strong skills with Terraform and Git.
4. Experience troubleshooting server and software configuration issues on both Windows and Linux, including Red Hat and Debian distros.
5. Experience with scripting and automation using tools like Python, PowerShell or Bash.
6. Solid understanding of networking protocols and components including experience of working with a complex Cloud network with demonstrable experience of developing and working with CI/CD pipelines.
7. Excellent analytical person with excellent written and oral communication skills with the ability to articulate technical information and convey to non-technical people.
