Position Summary Under direct leadership, the Manager of Procurement will hire, lead, and mentor the direct procurement team. This person will develop, implement, and evaluate the company’s direct procurement strategies and processes. Their goal is to develop a database of potential suppliers and cultivate working relationships to ease the process of acquiring materials and/or services and to design purchasing strategies that ensure constant availability of inventory and/or services within the company’s budget in a manner that demonstrates, “Everything is Important.”
This position is located on-site in our Daventry location.
Essential Functions
* Manages a team of three (3) to five (5) people responsible for direct purchasing
* Plans and oversees the work of Commodity Managers
* Hires and trains new staff
* Develop sourcing strategies
* Use Industry knowledge and expertise to cultivate new supplier relationships
* Develop sourcing strategies by analyzing the supply base, market conditions, and technology roadmaps
* Lead contractual negotiations with suppliers on NDA’s, General Terms & Conditions and Production Supply Agreements
* Support business planning initiatives and milestone attainment
* Build and maintain strategic relationships with key suppliers, acting as the lead for all commercial issues
* Manages suppliers for Cost, Quality, and Delivery
* Identifies constraints that may impact production schedules
* Works in a cross-functional team environment as a strong team player and demonstrate ability to work with other functional groups to achieve company-wide goals
* Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
Required Education/Experience
* Six plus (6+) years of related experience as Purchasing Manager, Senior Buyer, or equivalent
* Degree in business, supply chain, or other relevant fields
* Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and maths
* Knowledge of procurement strategies
Preferred Education/Experience and/or Certifications
* Proficient in Fishbowl or similar MRP systems
* Experience in aerospace or automotive manufacturing
* Prior experience in rapid growth environment
* Powertrain procurement or development experience a plus
Skills/Abilities and Attributes
* Strong ability to coach and lead team members within the department
* Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, maths, and statistics
* Effective written and verbal communications skills; ability to express ideas clearly and actively listen to others
* Team oriented, with a strong ability to multi-task and work in a fast-paced environment to multiple deadlines

Physical Demands/Work Environment
* Must be able to drive and travel for business, including occasional travel by commercial airplane
* Must be able to work in a seated, standing, and/or walking position for extended periods
* Must be able to use fingers, hands, and arms at computer keyboard for extended period
* Must be able to speak clearly and distinctly and hear and be heard and understood in person and by telephone
