Consultant Clinical Psychologist

This is a leadership post within Psychological Health Services. The role is to lead and develop highly valued psychological services for a broad range of medical and surgical specialties within our acute Trust, primarily within paediatric care. The role involves working with all other PHS Trust-wide Consultant Psychologists to respond safely during periods of staff absence or vacancy and includes delegated duties from the Head of Psychological Health Services.
Main duties of the job
1. To lead the delivery and quality improvement of the Trust-wide PHS staff vacancy, W&C divisional multispecialty brief intervention service, and paediatric surgical specialties.
2. To provide leadership, representation, and other duties delegated by the Head of Service.
3. To lead, coordinate and supervise and disseminate psychological research, service evaluation and audit activity.
4. To provide clinical, leadership, management and professional services within Psychological Health Services.

Person specification
Qualifications
* Doctorate in clinical psychology/counselling psychology or equivalent (E)
* Current registration as a practitioner psychologist with the Health Care Professions Council (E)
* Training appropriate theoretical models for use in the post
Skills and Abilities
* Ability to generate systemic and individual psychological formulations and triage/deliver brief interventions.
* Advanced communication skills with the ability to provide and receive highly complex and sensitive information.
* Ability to access, record and manage information and data.
* Ability to prioritise and manage available time for clinical, managerial and professional activities effectively.
* Able to travel as required.
* Well-developed IT skills including entry and analysis of research data.
* Skills in providing teaching and training to other professional groups.
* Ability to work effectively within a multi-disciplinary team.
Knowledge and Experience
* Extensive experience of working as a Clinical Psychologist leader of NHS staff support services.
* Extensive experience of undertaking team consultation development.
* Experience working within health care to provide large training events and public speaking.
* Experience of formal teaching/presentation sessions to health and other professionals.
* Demonstrable knowledge of strategic principles relating to staff support, including trauma informed practice.
* Knowledge and experience of theoretical approaches to working with staff groups and patients.
* Experience of providing senior leadership and clinical services within a specialist health setting.
* Record of publications in peer-reviewed journals and conference presentations.
