Civil Engineering Project Manager
The Role
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Civil Engineering Project Manager to join our team and lead the delivery of key projects
across Wales and the UK. The candidate is required predominantly for the following project types
* Onshore Wind Farms
* Grid Connection Projects
* Battery Storage schemes
Overview
This is a site-based role, with responsibility for overseeing projects from inception to completion while ensuring high standards
of safety, quality, and efficiency. Reporting to the Contracts Manager and Contract Director, you will work collaboratively with a
multidisciplinary team to deliver successful outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
Project Leadership and Team Management
* Oversee and coordinate Works Managers, Site Agents, Engineers, and other site staff.
* Develop a motivated, skilled, and efficient delivery team through mentoring and leadership.
* Provide clear direction and resolve issues to maintain progress and performance.
Planning and Execution
* Input into and monitor project programmes to meet deadlines and budgets.
* Interpret engineering drawings and specifications to ensure compliance with client requirements.
* Manage project schedules, ensuring resource availability (labour, plant, and subcontractors).
* Address technical and operational challenges, ensuring smooth and efficient project delivery.
Health, Safety, and Environmental Compliance
* Enforce a “safety first” culture across all operations.
* Prepare and implement site-specific health, safety, and environmental management plans.
* Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with statutory and company standards.
* Address environmental challenges proactively, minimising impact through mitigation strategies.
Financial and Contractual Management
* Manage procurement, payment, and performance of suppliers and subcontractors in line with company policies.
* Prepare and monitor project budgets, identifying risks and opportunities for cost control.
* Assist with developing accurate project reports, including financial forecasts and CVRs.
* Resolve contractual issues with clients and suppliers while maintaining professional relationships.
Stakeholder and Client Engagement
* Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, stakeholders, and joint venture partners.
* Represent the company at client and progress meetings, presenting clear and comprehensive updates.
* Ensure effective communication across all levels of the project team and with external parties.
Quality Assurance and Continuous Improvement
* Ensure adherence to quality management systems and client specifications.
* Oversee the preparation and implementation of quality control procedures and plans.
* Identify and implement lessons learned to enhance future project delivery processes.
Sector-Specific Expertise (Where Applicable)
* Energy & Renewables: Manage projects involving wind farms, battery storage, and energy infrastructure.
What We Are Looking For
Qualifications
* Degree or HND in Civil Engineering/Construction Management or equivalent.
* CSCS and SMSTS certifications (preferred).
* Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., ICE) is advantageous.
Skills and Experience
* Demonstrable experience as a Project Manager in the civil engineering sector.
* Knowledge of Design & Build projects
* Strong understanding of civil engineering legislation, health & safety, and environmental policies.
* Excellent leadership and team-building skills.
* Proficient in Microsoft Office, project management software, and cost control systems.
* Ability to analyse complex technical challenges and implement effective solutions.

* Adaptable and reliable, with strong organisational and decision-making skills.
* Excellent communicator, both written and verbal, capable of presenting confidently to clients and teams.
* Committed to continuous professional development and team mentoring.
* Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel extensively across Wales and the UK.
