As a Junior Layout Artist, you will work alongside our Director and Animation Director to refine final camera movements to support the final story. You will also help develop the previsualisation of a high-end CG TV series, in line with approved episodic storyboards. To be successful in the role, we are looking for an artist who can design shots and translate traditional filmmaking principles into a 3D software.
This role is due to start early March 2025 and the successful candidate is required to be based in the UK.
Day to Day:
1. Working with the Director and Animation Director to build scene set ups in line with approved client storyboards.
2. Create rough layouts, defining the initial blocking of character animation and cameras within a scene.
3. Make sure all scenes are working within the required pipeline set up to be delivered to the animation department.
4. Adapt and refine cameras based on Director critiques and changes.
5. Liaise with the Storyboard, Assets and Animation departments to create layouts that work towards the Directors intended vision.
Must Have:
1. Technical/Artistic Skills: Working knowledge of Maya and clean scene set ups.
2. Demonstrable artistic skills including a strong sense of composition and perspective, the knack to create atmosphere and a good understanding of editing.
3. Good understanding of cinematography, pacing, timing and general filmmaking concepts.
4. Knowledge of CG Animation techniques.
5. Knowledge of a CG pipeline.
6. A passion for cinematography or video games.
