As a Biomedical Scientist at our Oxford Hospital, you’ll bring the relevant qualifications and laboratory experience in multidisciplinary biomedical science. You have a good working knowledge of different analytical equipment in a range of techniques. You’re also a natural communicator and team player, and you share our idea of quality.
As a Biomedical Scientist specialising in Histology, you will:
* Be competent to work in different sections of the laboratory
* Participate in the production of histology sections for microscopic examination. This includes: Biopsy/specimen transfer, Tissue processing, Embedding, Microtomy, Staining, Microscopy
* Prepare staining solutions and reagents and assist in the maintenance of adequate stocks of reagents and consumables
* Ensure the efficient and safe use of consumables and equipment within the working area
* Participate in internal quality control procedures and external quality assurance procedures
* Participate in quality assurance procedures and corrective actions
* Communicate with clinicians, laboratory and clinical staff regarding samples required, appropriateness of tests, provision of results, etc.
* Work according to the regulations and codes of practice governing aspects of Health and Safety relevant to the department
* Maintain a high level of professional competence in the performance of all tests and investigations carried out in the laboratory
To be considered for this role you must:
* Have an active HCPC registration
* Be organised and possess good IT skills
* Have knowledge of the Health and Safety of working in a lab
