Based at the Acute Stroke Team on ward B11 at Peterborough City Hospital, you will join a supportive and ambitious team in delivering high-quality assessment and evaluated care required to support each patient in their care pathway and improve the patient experience. B11 is divided into 2 areas: 12-bed monitored HASU for patients admitted for specialist acute care, 22-bed acuter and rehabilitation stroke beds and 1 dedicated assessment trolley for thrombolysis/acute stroke or TIA patients. You will have a passion for delivering high standards of care, commitment and motivation to help drive our services forward. We offer a 24-hour thrombolysis service and link with regional centres for mechanical thrombectomy. We also provide a service for TIA patients and are actively involved in Stroke Research and Stroke national data collection (SSNAP) We have Stroke Coordinators available 24/7, Stroke Consultant cover 7 days a week in HASU, 5 days a week in ASU and specialist registrars. Please note we are only able to accept applications from those with a live NMC registration or UK nursing students awaiting their PIN as we are unable to support OSCE at this time Main duties of the job As a senior member of staff, you will act as a clinical nurse leader, taking responsibility for the professional development of yourself and a group of nurses. Your responsibilities will include ward coordinating in charge of a shift and senior cover in HASU or ASU day and night to support the team, sharing your knowledge and clinical skills. Throughout your journey, you will work in close liaison with the Ward Manager, other Deputy Sisters/Deputy Charge Nurses, the Stroke Coordinator, Matrons, the Practice Development Team (PDT) and the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT). You will ensure the patients are supported along their pathway liaising with MDT, other agencies, and family / NOK ensuring good communication and care is provided in a timely way. You will also have the opportunity to complete the stroke coordinator competencies and follow the patient from ED to HASU.
